Cool Does everyone hate Bridgestone EL42 over your 04TL?

What do you think about this? I guess most of ppl will use expression of censure to describe this tire, however, I expect some ppl may have the different thoughts.

Thanks.

For me, I need a category between "Bad, but not the big deal" and "Worst tire I ever know", which is where I would like to cast my vote. I can't honestly say it is the worst tire I have ever known, but it is the big deal to me that it doesn't perform properly befitting the TL.

Right, it's hard to make this testing thread to satisfy everyone... sometimes we need to have some team works or consultation prior to creating the POLL... Let me see what I can do with this.

This is just the test, I like to know if the new software could do anything special. This new software ruins my vacation...

I now have the replacement EL42 OEM tire. There is a marked difference between the original and the new EL42. First, the new tire is better riding and perhaps a little softer, which is to my liking. Most noticable is the significant difference in the propensity to flat-spot, its almost non-exisitant in my driving experience.

Very quiet ride, poor wet and winter grip, braking in the dry is so-so at best. Fortunately, I've never encountered any vibration or flatspotting issues.

No problems with the tire so far. Did get the car balanced and aligned when I first bought the car for minor road vibration and steering wheel pull, but no problem since then. I haven't experienced the 'flat spot' syndrome some have complained about even though my vin is one of the earlier ones.

My options should be listed as this below...

1. Premium
2. Fitting and proper
3. So-so, just a tire
4. Bad, but not the big deal
5. Terrible and Unacceptable --> This is the new one I added in.
6. Worst tire I ever know

Sorry for this mess-up. My fault.

I am not thrilled with the EL42's so far. And based on the question it sounds like the poster is not either.

Isn't the answer to your poll question just Yes or No ?

i havent experienced any vibration or flat spotting yet, maybe a lil lack of grip causing me to spin out in my 6MT, but that all aside, I'm surprised a luxury brand like Acura tried to cut costs by using a crappy brand like Bridgestone

roadman,

You're right, I'm not pretty impressive with EL42s, but so far they don't give me the big headache yet. If the POLL only comes with Yes or No, this will make life Black and White. The multiple/specific choices could reflect more truth and make life vivid.

Since some of members said how good this tire would be, I think the poll could provide us more decent answers what everyone is thinking. My 0.02.

BTW, IMO, Bridgestone has some very good tires. Acura just chose the wrong one due to $$$.

I would have to agree with the general concensus that Acura made a mistake with these tires. Even the Michelin Energy's on my 2k TL were better than the EL 42's. While I have not had any significant problems with the "reformulated" ones that came with my 328xx VIN, there are simply too many better choices out there.

So far so good

I've had my TL for only two weeks and after months of reading this forum I was preparing for the worst but so far so good. I *think* I have felt some minor vibrations perhaps due to flat spotting, but they go away pretty quickly. It's certainly nothing I'd raise a stink over. Yesterday was the first real rainy day driving I've done on them and again I was prepared to drive as though I was on glare ice after reading this forum but alas they seem to grip just fine. Snow grip is the last test but that probably won't happen now until next winter but in looking at the tread design I'm not expecting great snow performance anyway. On the plus side, they are far quieter at highway speed than the Bridgestone RE950's I had on my Maxima, which I though performed very well.

Ret's,

I agree with your taking a poll, I wasn't clear. The question you are asking is what I saw first and almost did not read the poll becuase it was a yes or no question.

Your question asks: "Does everyone hate ..."

Well if one person answers yes then the the answer to your poll is instantly NO. "Not EVERYONE hates ......

For the choices that you give you perhaps should have worded the question differently

No vibration or flat spots here but we had a really rainy day yesterday and I hated the EL42s yesterday. My old del sol with Michelins hooked up far better than the TL under the same conditions.

Can't wait to completly wear these things out so i can justify replacing them with top quality tires. I just can't justify doing this on a car that's only a week old. And yes, I have the second series EL42s and they still suck!

Right. Sometimes I just try to make the topic simple and attractive, then ppl will click in and vote. When I said something that "does everyone hate...", no matter you like or hate it, most of them will still take a look, and ppl should know how to answer due to this POLL sign/mark/feature. This is my second POLL, I still need some extra works to make POLL better and better. Thanks for your input.

I know this is radical: I like the tires. They handle very well in dry/wet conditons. My one complaint is that they don't do that well in snow.

I have some minor vibration but it goes away pretty fast and then they're fine. I had them up the 75 MPH on the PA Turnpike in the rain and they seemed fine except for one puddle and my guess is that any tire would have hydroplaned on that. I'll wear them out and replace them with Michelins.

I got my car last week and the tires are bad. It takes 10 minutes of driving to get them feeling ok. I replaced the tires with the oem 18's with the Yokahoma's and love it. The dealer bought back my tires for 125 per tire and I will get all seasons for winter on the stock rims.

I went right from the bad initial EL42s (with the flatspotting issues), right to Pilot Sport A/S (dealer swapped them for me in lieu of the new EL42 replacements). While I can't comment on the new EL42s, I am SO happy with these Michelins. We've had a deluge of rain here in MA the last few days and driving home in the downpours on Tuesday night, with the highways majorly puddling up, the tires handled it all perfectly. I can honestly say I would have felt a little nervous driving in the same conditions with the EL42s, given the wet/snow experiences I had with them while I still had them.

Heck, even my g/f comments on the ride difference with the Pilot's. It's getting to be even more difficult getting my driving time in now

I have no problems beating this dead horse to pulp...the EL-42s are dangerous tires in any modicum of snow. It is a joke that they cost $165 each on tirerack and it is even more laughable that Acura continues to sell this b.s. rubber with this fine ride.
