Does anyone have the manual Hide Away Plate Holder???

I was looking at the manual Hide Away Plate Holder (you gotta use your hand and its not motorize.) I think this is better than the rho plate. Have anyone here have the manual Hide Away Plate Holder on their car?

I think the whole point of having a hideaway plate is so that if cops pull you over you can automatically have it come out and pretend like you had it out the whole time.

I see absolutely no point in having the manual one unless you just want to have it gone when you go to a meet or something so that your front will look better, and leave it back up the rest of the time.

I'd still get the motorized if you're going to attempt such a mod.

Negative. Indiana doesn't require front plates.

I'm just worry about installation and also since I live in MA, it could get really cold here, so I'm afraid it me might die on me. Thats all.

I love this forum ... A guy asks a simple question ... everyone craps all over him ..

Maybe he could afford $50 but not $150.
Maybe he would like the option of being legal when driving / parked but the option to put the plate under when at shows.

Regardless of the reason ... anyone running the plate holder?

BTW I have a different type of manual one and I don't have it to flip it up if a cop stops me .. They aren't stupid .. they know what they see and can/will still charge you.

OP PM me if you want info on it .. lot cheaper than the others .. and no I don't sell it ... you make it with simple tools.

I didn't crap on him. He asked if anyone had a motorized one. Btw I saw the one that you made and I think it is just fine. Like you say it is cheap to build and seems to work well

I also don't try to pull any fast ones with the law. The retractable plate is just for when I park at meets and shows.

The instructions come with the kit, It is real easy to do. I think the whole job was about a half hour. If you decide to get one give me a shout, I'll walk you right through it.

do you still have this in your car? im a little worried about its ruggedness and withstanding highway speeds when hidden.

Last weekend me and my dad installed the same motorized licence plate holder on his Mustang and neither of us is very machanically inclined. The instructions you get are very general and it is up to you to decide how you want to mount it and run the wiring which is very simple. One red wire to the positive battery post and a black to the negative post leading to the transmitter box and then two wires going the the motor on the licence plate bracket. Pretty easy stuff but do take your time and measure twice because you dont want the thing being crooked. The only power tool you will need is a drill the rest of it can be done with simple hand tools.

Seems to be fine even above highway speeds. I have had it on for about a year no problems. I put one on my dads Shelby GT500 about the same time and no problems either.

One thing that I can't give any info on is how it does in snow/ice, both cars never go out in these conditions.

If you want a manual one, save some money, use zip ties.
