Does AHFC bargan at lease buy-out?
My beloved old TL is towards the end of lease. I want to buy it out and asked around about what needs to be done. But what I got are contradicting answers: Some ppl says AHFC offers discount off the residual value of the car, while others saying AHFC will not negotiate at all.
Which story is the truth? Also, since there wasn't too many TL on the road at my signing of the lease, but now there are all over the place. So I assume the resale value of the car could have dropped, so what can I expect to pay if the calculated residual at lease signing is $16k?
thanks.

Hmmm...gainful and his TL are about to part...the saga is will soon end...
Anyway, if you want to know what AHFC will do, why don't you just call them and ask? Everyone's situation is unique, so what happens for you will probably be different than what happens (happened) for someone else.
As for the value of your TL, it depends on where you are, mileage, condition, etc. For this, enter your info into the various valuation sites (Edmunds, AutoTrader, KBB, etc.); to get a bare minimum value, take it CarMax for a quote.
That being said, unless you've abused your car or it has extremely high mileage, even with no deal on the residual, you should be able to at least break even with a buy out if you are near lease end.

I have leased about dozen cars from AHFC and they have never bargained - despite my trying. The only thing they will let you do is to extend the lease up to 24 months at the same payment.
