Does the 2006 TL have auto off headlights

I am confused as I have heard that the 2006 TL has auto off headlights, but I can not seem to find out how to get this set ? Does it have the auto off headlights ?

Thanks

Keep in mind that they are auto off, not auto on. The setting for delay is in the MID, under the driver settings function.

Hope that helps.

That is what I thought and I thought I had them set to auto off, but they do not turn off ?? I am away for a few weeks so when I get back to California I will try to set it up again.

Thanks

I think the way it works is this....

Get out of car while leaving headlights on
Lock car doors by using the keyfob
Lights will turn off
When you unlock you doors and start you car, lights will come back on because the switch is in the 'on' position...

Not true auto on off but pretty close

Your method is what works for me with my '06. Just leave them on (I set the delay time in the MID first), lock the doors, and they eventually turn off. As soon as you hit the unlock, they're right back on again.

Lights are left in ON position. It will auto off when you shut the car and lock it (MID timer setting). When you unlock the car. The lights will turn on right away regardless if you stick the key in or not. I don't use this as sometimes I need to get things from the car but not drive or anything so you shorten the life of the lights since you are just making it go on and off for no reason. Not a true auto light.

Yup it will turn on reagrdless if its day or night time. It's not a true auto on/off. My 03 Maxima had the true on/off with sensor but I normally don't use it either cause if I went through a short tunnel. The sensor will detect the tunnels dim lighting and turn the lights on but turns off after you get out of the tunnel thus flickering the lights on and off.

That's true. I have an 03 Maxima with true on/off lights but I turn my 06 TL lights on manually. I wouldn't want to drive around in the daytime with the lights on--I just wished that Acura would have that stock.

A couple of things that I wish the TL had that my Maxima has:

- Auto on/off lights
- Compass in rearview mirror - I have a non-navi TL therefore I would like a compass.
- Heated steering wheel
- The radio spells out which artists/song/radio station is on in the display
- Back seats that fold down (not just the ski pass-through)
- Automatic start (this was aftermarket and the Maxima is Automatic and the TL is 6spd--but I like this option)

OK, first, the HID's on the TL have a very long life. Do a comparison of a HID vs a Halogen Bulb. A HID will have 10 times the life of a halogen, so by having them on will not degrad the life by that much. Just food for thought!!!

I prefer the off option so I can drive up to unsuspecting targets and successfully complete a contract.
