Here's a recent thread asking the same question ...... seems like the cost is significantly cheaper than the previous (04-06 MY) lip spoiler.

yeah, that was my thread.. i think the conclusion is that the TL-S spoiler is a bit longer sharper and wraps around the contours of the tip of the trunk a little bit more but the difference is very subtle. avid acura lovers will catch this difference.

Please let us know how this works out. I haven't ordered the 07 type S spoiler because of the multiple holes that are required to mount it to the trunk lid. If you can post pics of the spoiler mounting before installation, it would be helpful to the rest of us considering this mod.

Has anyone actually done this MOD yet? I just talk to my dealer and he does not think that it will work, he said if you look close, the trunks are different where the deck lid monts. Secondly he mentioned the bolts the the 07 takes are going to be hard to access from the inside of the trunk......

I really want this so keep me posted if it works out

I e-mailed the guy from the Acura dealer from ebay, the one selling 07 tails and he said that the 07 TL-S is the same as the 06-04.

I guess one way to check would be to see if the 04-06 trunk lid is the same part # as the 07 & the 07 type S.

The possible reason the truck part numbers are different is because the holes for the Type-S spoiler are drilled/ machined when the trunk lid is produced.

What we need to find out is if the 07 Base TL and the 06 Base TL trunk lids are the same part number. If they are the same, there is a really good chance you can mount the 07 Type-S spoiler on an 04-07 Base TL, if you can figure where to drill the holes.

I don't believe Acura made any changes to the metal parts of the exterior body of the TL for 07.

I e-mailed Scot again and he know said the TL-S deck lip is about 1" beefier. I said he could sell me one, it's $104. The only problem is you have to drill 5 holes and 2 square holes and it doesn't come with a template.

I also asked him if the dealer could install it and he said probably not that a body shop would have to do it.

I am interested in if it is possible to use double sided tape and avoid drilling the holes altogether.

dat, my dealer had one on display that they said is the lip spoiler for the base TL. (looked a lot like our lip spoiler to me). It had 2 bolts on it and a small strip of the double sided tape going around it. It would be possible to cut the bolts off & maybe even add more tape. I don't know how well it would hold up though.

I believe the 07 Base TL Accessory Lip Spoiler is the same as the 04-06 TL Accessory Lip Spoiler, except for the color choices of course.

It might be worth ordering a 07 Type-S spoiler for $99 and seeing if 1) the two thread bolts are spaced the same as the accessory spoiler (to uses accessory template), 2) can the three clips be removed / sanded down and 3) double stick tape be applied in similar locations as on the accessory spoiler.

if you were able to get rid of those bolts, i am sure a dremel would do the trick, and some automotive grade 3M tape that spoiler would mount no problems.
Personally, i wanted a secure mount, so i bought the OEM, but the decklids on ebay mount with only tape, so why won't thise work as well?

I was told by the parts guy and a tech at my dealership that the 07 TL type S spoiler is made like the TSX spoiler. We looked at the Type S on their parts computer and looked at a TSX spoiler they had is stock. The TSX spoiler has two metal studs and three plastic pins which go through the trunk and are secured with two nuts and three clips. The spoiler is hollow with several reinforcement ribs between the studs and pins. Even if you removed the studs and pins I don't think there would be enough surface area on the spoiler for the double sided tape to adhire to.

Two day ago I went down to look at the new Type S TL. I looked at the mounted spoiler very closely from all angles. The seal around the edges looks just like the TSX spoiler I looked at over a week ago. If anyone has ordered this new Type S spoiler, I'd like to see photos of the bottom and mounting studs. I would like to confirm that it is like the TSX spoiler. Once we see the bottom of new TL Type S spoiler, we can determine if it can be modified to mount without drilling all the holes.

I think the TL-S lip is too fat looking, and I like the 04-06 better. If you look at the real m3 lip, it is even more skinny than what we have. Acura should've make the lip more slim to get that aggressive look from behind just like them m3's. This is what I think. By the way, how many holes are drilled in order to install the 04-06 lips?

I believe the 04-06 trunk lip spoiler has to have two holes for mounting.

The 04-06 Lip Spoiler needs two holes drilled and also has 1/4 inch wide double stick tape all around the parameter of the underside of it. It also looks solid /closed which provides the surface area for the tape.
