I just got an 08 Acura TL type-s and I got quotes from 2 popular places in jersey, one of them being that tropic place. They both ran to about 350-400$ with moleskin, does anybody here possibly from north jersey have any cheaper suggestions

that better be top of the line ceramic tint for that price.....

if its a dyed tint, you're getting ripped.

buy the moleskin for $25 and install yourself, and then go get it tinted. i spent $200 for my 20% 3M tint w/ warranty. if i were you, i would look elsewhere, i can't imagine jersey prices are much different from baltimore.

^no, not really.

I paid $360 for my tint.
I bought Huper Optik ceramic tint. When doing research, i found that its one of the top ceramic tints along with formula one.
these two brands are pretty expensive.
but they both block 99% of heat and UV rays.
I went with a 35% and it acts like a 5% tint.

They most likely don't even carry that in Jersey. I could understand in TX or FL because you guys get so much sun. However Jersey obviously isn't the same way so most shops probably don't feel the need to get that kind of tint. I could be wrong. Even still, for like 2 hours of work... How much could the tint cost for a $400 job!!???

The Houston heat is BRUTAL. the only reason why I dropped so much coin into tint.

Back to the OP's question, if its not a high end tint, dont pay 300 dollars for it

x2...and x2 for Huper Optik. Going on 7.5 years now. You just can't beat this stuff and the heat reduction is amazing.

FYI, I paid $400 for HO plus moleskin (2003, Shreveport, LA).

Too much. I got ceramic tints, 35% front, 15% rear. Paid $189 with discount, regular price was $235 for this tint.

I payed 360 to have them take all my tint off and then reapply it. My guy uses SunTek, which is a pretty good brand, and it is gauranteed for life. I was a dumbass and didn't listen to my tint guy and didnt read up on here about the moleskin and now i have some pretty good scratch lines on my back windows....

Ordering moleskin today and he is going to replace the tint for free cuz he is a pimp

i payed about 330 to get old tint removed and new metallic tint put on ... 350 sounds a litte high unless like justn is saying ur getting ceramic. imo ceramic is a waste unless u live in fl/tx where the heat is unbearable. up in jersey u should be good with metallic even if u have navi

Anything above $200 is a rip off unless it's one of those special tints.

I paid $140 for tints all around and moleskin for the front two windows.

Sure they do. All the rich luxury cars get Huper Optik. I'll bet the NY area is one of their bigger markets. For $400 that better be a Huper tint job. I went with F1 for 200

I can get my TL done at a shop I know with F1 Pinnacle Series Ceramic Tint for $260 dollars with moleskin.

Keep in mind that's in Canada where we overpay for things haha

So I would say 350-400 is a little expensive.

nice!

we're certainly over paying here.
Every place that I went to quoted an outrageous price.
Even with my powerful chinese negotiating skills, I couldnt get any one to budge.

for quality ceramic tint with moleskin like llumar, expect 200 dollars. If you want some top of the line tint, then 400 for Huper Optik.

it did make an improvement over non-tinted windows.
BUTT, if left out in the sun, there aint no stopping the heat.

it has to do with the front windshield.
the windshield has lots of real estate that allows heat to penetrate.

with this huper optik tint, 70% still acts like a 5%.
I'm thinking about tinting the front windshield a 70%. It'll be very light and no on will notice that the windshield will be tinted.

I have to figure out what I'm going to do about inspection stickers tho.

Do you use one of these?

http://www.heatshieldstore.com/catal...products_id=19

(Do a site search for "canvasworks".)

With this and the HO tint, even in the hot Bossier City summer sun, the inside temp stayed at a tolerable level.

My car stays in the garage 24/7.
but on those occasional days that I do go out and leave the car in the sun, this would be perfect. thanks.

I got mine done for $100 cash with the front windshield done with life time warranty. (Of course through a hook up) The guy usually charges $180. I didn't have the mole skin and the tints got those vertical scratches. The guy is meeting up tomorrow to re do them. However an extra $30 for the moleskin.
To be honest, the guy has been tinting for 22 years plus, and you can tell he is not greedy for money but passionate about what he does.

It all depends on the tint.

YES. you definitely do. I made the mistake of not getting it and now all 4 of my windows are scratched REALLY bad.

I'm probably going to get my car retinted with ceramic tint+moleskin.
