Lightbulb Do Acura TL 2004-2007 Go Over Bumps Well?/Premature transmission failure

Hello, I recently made a post on Yahoo Answers Acura forum.

My original question Yahoo Answers

"Hello, This will be my first car, I want something sturdy and safe. I heard TL models from 2004-2007 are fun cars to drive and pretty good on gas when handled right.

My question is. Are these models heavy to the point when you go over speed bumps or a bumpy road your bouncing all over the place or it's a smooth ride. I can't really test drive one yet until I see the one I want.

Sorry for the grammar errors, I'm typing this from my iPhone.

And someone answered with.

"It's a smooth ride, unless you live out in the country side. But beware, you're going to have to do some work or experience premature transmission failure. Pay acurazine.com a visit."

So is this true? do TL Models 04-08 have premature transmission failure?

04-05 tls have had tranny problems from what I've heard and trying to find 07-08 with a bad tranny is like trying to find a needle in a haystack

Smooth ride will be differed to each individual. Which car are you comparing to? It is not as smooth as toyota/lexus. It is not as smooth as I would like but other members lower their cars and it gives them even better feel of the road. I lowered my tire pressure while others over inflate theirs. Meaning of smooth ride is different to each individual. Can you try Honda accord?

i think the tl goes over bumps as it should...wouldnt really say its "great" or "bad". its a standard double wishbone suspension up front like accords and tsx's. its a good set up.

Switch out the 3rd/4th gear sensors every 60k miles and replace your ATF with Redline D4/Amsoil every 60k miles as well and you're good to go.

I have an 06 that I always thought rode a little (just a little) firm, but not bouncy or uncontrolled. I replaced the OEM tires with 245/45/17 Conti DWS tires- ride is a quite comfortable and handling is still intact, so if you're looking to get one, they are great cars. I agree that pre-emptive maintenance with a tranny fluid change and switches will pay off well in the long run. These are very good cars, in fact, so good that Acura hasn't been able to reproduce the sales numbers it had for this particular model of car since they went out of production.
