1W is perfectly fine, it's just more than necessary but it'll work.

remove 4 screws on fender liner, then reach hand under the fender liner to press in the clip behind the sidemarker. takes me 45 seconds to remove each side

I was wondering if anyone knew if the front usr amber markers have the same circuit board design as the factory markers. now that I blacked out my headlights the amber marker looks out of place! I would like to do this mod but before I waste my time cutting open the marker only to find out this mod will not work the same on usr's

don't know, not a fan of the usr side markers, look really cheap to me but I'd assume they'd be similar

Mod

I will be trying this mod hopefully this weekend

Also I cut open the side marker that wasn't working and everything was rusty. You could hardly even tell where the screws were. Will this affect the mod?

no, it should be fine as long as the circuit board is still intact

Hey Paperboy, you think you could do a switch back mod, where they're white, while running, and flash amber, when signaling? I know that may call for making a new board and squeezing more LED's in, but it'd be a pretty sick mod. I'd like to have them match my switchbacks I have in my headlight turn signals now.

^USR's switchback sidemarkers do that right out of the box.

but if you want to get your hands dirty and DIY, by all means please do and figure out a way to make the rears light up RED and blink RED instead of light up WHITE and blink RED.

I've been debating if I should make the front sidemarkers white LEDs to match the led signals in the headlights.. Only thing is the mirror turn signals are still amber.

And the rear sidemarkers are red.

Not sure how I should go about making it look nice. So many colors.

hrmmm

Anyone have a side video of the white front sidemarkers and headlight turn signals with the red rear sidemarkers and amber mirror signals?

that's how my car is setup. it looks fine bro I don't know what it worried about. the mirrors blink amber at the same time the switchbacks do so that matches and looks pretty cool IMO. then the mirrors are off and everything is white up front and red in back

This is about the cleanest setup I've seen for complete switchbacks, and what I'm trying to accomplish. I just need to mod the side markers. Yes I could buy them, but all the USR side markers I've seen blink alternate from the ones in the headlights, which I don't like. Having them all blink in unison just looks so much better IMO.

ill take a vid of my setup tonight if u want, maybe cuz I have an 08 and my mirrors have signals is the reason why it looks so good. having the side markers and mirrors blink is too much, for someone with a 04-06 is guess it's ok

everyone has SO many different opinions on these things its hilarious.

I really like the USR switchback sidemarkers. it is a major safety feature in my eyes, you're gonna see me turning if I have 5 lights blinking on one side of my car for sure. they don't blink 'alternate'...they all blink in unison as they should.

white while running. amber up front while turning which matches the switchback headlights and mirror signals. red in the rear while turning which matches my rear turn signals in the tails and the sidemarker itself.

like I said, the ONLY thing I wish was different is if the rear markers could light up red and blink red instead of light up white and blink white.

^+1^ I agree I wouldn't mind the rears blinking red. I don't believe that would be too hard to do since the taillight harness is so close

Other than the white flashing also, I like it. My switchbacks in my headlights are WHITE while running and when I signal the WHITE is supposed to cut off, allowing the AMBER only to flash on and off, and return back to the WHITE running light when the signal turns off. I like this set up better, and I think that's what you're referring to. Mine have decided, on their own to "strobe" WHITE just before each AMBER blink. I know that's a lot and I'll probably upload a video of it so you can see what I'm talking about. I like the look of everything flashing in unison, not alternating flashes like I've seen a lot of USR side markers do. I'd be down to get them if anyone knows of a way to make them blink all at the same time. (not sure how it'd look w/ my spastic strobe flashing switchbacks in the headlight assembly, lol)

the USR switchback sidemarkers are exactly what you need. they all blink in unison.

sounds like you need to fix your current headlight turn signal switchbacks to the vled v2's.

I've been looking out the window at work, at my car. I noticed that many people chose the darker taillight + darker rear side marker look (instead of the OEM red tail and red side marker). Further some will darken the headlights or at least make it not amber at the turn signals; and in these thread also use the white bulb in the front side marker.

so, is it ridiculous for me to ask:

has anyone swap out the OEM darkened front side marker cover for an amber one? and leaving the rest of the lights OEM?

so you'd have OEM headlights with the amber turn signals, then AMBER side markers, then red side markers, and finally the red taillights.

Well you are in luck, because Andy (Gerzand) did this years ago and did a very nice DIY for it.

yea you're right they are the type-s OEM markers, I have an 04 base so mine are red. and I just realized even if one chose to have the amber side markers up front, they'd have to make it themselves...

so spray paint them amber?

The reverse blink effect is from wiring the negative on the side marker to the positive in the turn signal wire. This effect is easily achieved, but that is why you see a lot of modded older Hondas with reverse blinking side markers. To make them blink at the same time would require much more work. I could make the OEM side markers blink in reverse too simply by rerouting 1 wire but I feel that's the cheap way around it. It's funny how often I hear that reverse blinking side markers are "more safe" because one light is on when the other is off, but in reality I'm sure it's done because its MUCH easier.

Damn, started this project on a extra set of sidemarkers I picked up, but it hasn't gone as smoothly as I thought. The stock LEDs and resistors are a pain in the ass to remove, at least for a very inexperienced soldering iron user like myself. Anyone have any tips on getting them out?
