Different Gas Brands

I've tried BP, CostCo, GetNGo (Giant Eagle) and Exxon... I have NOT noticed anything markedly different from any of them... ONCE my car seemed to "knock and ping" after parking, and I was wondering about that... But that was only once so... DUNNO...

I've noticed that using Amoco gas instead of Shell or Exxon worked best for me. I noticed sluggishness when using the 2 other brands and if your car knocks and pings after parking it, I'd say that you need to try a different brand.

I usually fill up with costco and then the next tank i fill up with Mobil.
I thought this stuff about the car acting weird was all in our heads until i filled up with Costco one day and went to the mall for an hour, when i came out the car did not want to start.
long story short .......i use Mobil more often

I noticed poor mileage when I put in a tank of Sunoco 91 octane one time to try it out, but as it was only a single tank I can't say if it was related to different brands, different octane, or just driving conditions. I suspect the latter. I normally use 93 octane from Mobil, Exxon, or Shell because they are the most convenient.
The only time I've noticed a major difference was in March of 1991 when we put in Amoco 93 at a station in Somerset, PA, then stopped at Pizza Hut for lunch. The car wouldn't run after we left the restaurant. Turned out to be bad gas.

I only use the following brands: Texaco, Shell, Chevron, Mobil and Exxon. I have had too many bad expereinces with the "7-11" brands. And, I always use premium as I have experienced very poor performance and "knocking" when trying to save a buck or two.

Since I've had the TL I use about 70% Union 76 and 30% Chevron. (The Union station is closest to me; ergo the high percentage.) No discernable difference in performance. I also use premium and wouldn't consider a lower octane rating.

I use Union76. Ive tried Shell, and Mobil1, and for some reason I get better gas mileage from Union 76. Chevron is good but no thanks. They can keep the techron. Its good cleaning your engine, but does decrease your horsepower.

Always buy from reputable big names like exxon/mobil, BP, etc. Personally i use Shell 93 with that extra thing i forget what its called but its supposed to clean out your injectors and whole fuel system in the long run.
Anyone heard of the new GTX startup synthetic? maybe a new thread should be started for that, i think it would be valuable or invaluable, depending on if you were reaised with the british english or the american english.

Come on guys, I have used Rotten Robbie gas for a decade with no problems what so ever. You have to ask yourself, how many refineries are in my area? Because thats where your gas comes from.
Some brands have certain additive packages that keep your fuel system clean but almost any fuel injector cleaner is better than those.
the key is finding the freshest gas. The Rotten Robbie by my house is always super busy and the gas tanker truck is always there so you know it's fresh.

i read somewhere that you should use different brands of gas from time to time because every company uses a different variation of detergents in the gas to help clean the engine(road rage might know more about this). not sure how true this is but i'll use just about any name brand gas station that is near me when i need gas. i don't have loyalty to any gas brand.

NEVER use Arco. It's cheaper for a reason. It did bad bad stuff to my 86 Jeep Commanche, basically, ate away the carb float. My Volvo would cough and sputter on the stuff.
I try to always use Chevron, 76, Shell, Mobil... In that order. Costco gas I never had a problem with, even with my 1995 JRSC Integra GS-R. But the other day, right after filling up, the TL pinged a bit.
Of course out here in Los Angeles, 91 octane is pretty much the best you can get... And when dispense through those new fangled gas pumps that deliver all grades through the same hose. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those stupid people that put higher octane fuel in cars that aren't designed for it (nor am I trying to start a fight), HOWEVER, I'd at least like the option of 92... :\
