Did You Buy A SwitchBlade Key For 04-06TL? For People in Toronto, Canada

Hello,

Was just curious to whether anyone in Toronto (416 / 905) area bought a SwitchBlade key for their 04 - 06 TL from FLBUsa.

I wanted to know where you got your key programmed and if you have any recommendations in the GTA area.

Much Thanks.

I already ordered a switch blade key.... Should be getting it within a day or two.

But I just need to find a place that can program it as I purchased it pre-cut for me.

Thinkin of calling my dealer. I think the switchblade key comes with some instructions too.

I made one myself, cut and programmed it at locksmith. Unfortunately I am in Vancouver. Cutting and programming is 15 min $40 job. I would recommend Yellow Pages. It worked for me.

By the way, that locksmith bought a few from me. He is selling them for $130 ready to use. That is price of blank at dealership.

i got mine programmed at the dealer for 40, and cut at a locksmith for 15. Unfortuantly it was done in windsor cause i'm here at school. the keys FLBUSA supplies are of exceptional quality though, they guys at the dealership we really impressed. I love mine its a huge improvement over stock, i hear it adds nearly 5WHP too.

If I read this correctly, you are saying that I can buy a new 2007 switchblade key from a dealer, and then have the dealer cut & program that same key for an 04-06 TL?

If so...AWESOME!

I asked about this very thing when I bought my 2006 demo at Acura 2000 a few month's ago, and was told it was not possible. I hope the salesman was wrong (or just too lazy to actually find out.)

Ya gotta go to the black market section of this forum...FLBUsa sells switchblade keys.

He takes the blank and then cuts it so that the blank key turns into a blank 04-06 TL key.

Once you've got that, you can then treat it like any other 04 - 06 TL blank key and the dealer can cut it.

I shoulda went to a lock smith to cut it as it woulda been cheaper. I could of then just paid for the programming at the dealership. Ah well.

I don't think the dealer will cut the switchblade blank to make it an 04-06TL blank and then cut it from there. They don't have the equipment to do that i don't think.

It would be nice, but it doesn’t work just like that. 2007 blank key has no longitudinal grooves as earlier models. In order to use it is necessary to cut those grooves previous to regular key cutting, and that is not job that can be done at any locksmith. I made one on CNC machine and use it for a few months now. I will have some more soon.
