Definitive Answer - octane grades CAN be blended!

Hi, Could you tell me if different grades of gas mix so that you end up with an octane that's the average of the two products?

Thank you for your inquiry. Yes it is possible. If you will visit our website at www.ConocoPhillips.com and select "Our Brands" then pick Union 76. This will take you to the 76 website where you should choose "Products". There is a conversion chart either under 76 Fuel or 76 Racing Fuel.

The following charts show the octane rating for 100 octane gas blended with 91, 92 and 93 octane gas and the octane which results from this blend.

I have said that all along.

Sunoco did this everyday to get 93 octane by mixing 87 and 94, no need to add an additional in ground tank!

Thanks for the confirmation.

lol, I'll bet that every gas station has only low-grade and premium-grade gas tanks & mixes the two to get the mid-grade... We've been duped by marketing!

Yes, but sunoco had 4 grades, and the older stations had only 3 tanks (and new ones) so you do the math.

The best way to see if they are mixing is stations where you push a button to select grade, they have the highest chance of mixing to get an intermeadiate grade.

Logic dictated this, but it is nice to see it in black and white.

I know, but people kept posting that it wasn't possible so I decided to find out for sure.
