Deck lid spoiler -- application and pricing?
Hey all:
I read on **********.com that the deck lid spoiler is simply taped on to the back of the car. Is that true? How much have you guys been paying for this spoiler? Is there much room for negotation?
Should we believe their "dealer cost" quote?
If it's only a tape job, we can probably get the dealer to do it for free (or do it ourselves).

Read these instructions for installing the decklid spolier on an '04 Accord. I'm betting the TL is very similar.

Many thanks for the response! That seems much more complicated than what I thought -- but then again, the Accord's deck lid actually goes over the edge of the trunk. I don't think the Acura's does.

Sadly, nobody posts the Acura accesory instructions on the web that I've found. Ask the parts guy at your dealership. Mine keeps a notebook full of them and they'll let me look at them if I ask.

If you go to the ********** website, click on 'Dealer Q&A' and ask Tim to e-mail you a pdf of the directions. I have an 04TL and when I saw the directions, preferred that the dealer do it.

its not taped on theres much more then you think in installing the deck lid spoiler. first off they have to install stronger strut hinges to hold the trunk open from the added weight of the spoiler that is a big part of the cost associated with the option

Here are the installation instructions for the '03, and '04 Accord, they are the same for the TL with the exception of you having to pull down some of the trim under the deck to install the stronger springs. You will have to buy the spring tool, and drill into your trunk lid. If you install it, and it rusts, it's on you, but if you let the dealer do it, it's on them. I was gonna do it myself on my car, but decided against it. When you buy the wing, the instructions are included. I did the splash guards, and the moonroof visor, but the rest I let them do. Here's the link. It's in PDF format.
