Decelerating question

07 t.l type s.. When I step off gas and the car begins to decelerate, at around 25mph I notice a pause like the engine is braking. Is this normal? It's not that noticeable but annoying.

There's no jerking on acceleration or pause between me stepping on the gas and the car moving. So I don't think it's the tranny

Like downshifting? How many miles on your car? Have you done tranny fluid flush? pressure switches?

Yeah it's normal. That's one thing that I didn't like about my automatic Type S. And yes just like you said 25mph is where you feel one of the downshifts. I think when rolling to a stop you really feel the 2nd and 1st gear drops. I have had a couple auto Type S's and it's just how they work. Perfectly normal, but sort of annoying to some people.

Doesn't the TL downshift from 4th to 2nd? It is normal, at least mine does the same thing.

Just got the car 3 weeks ago and was worried that it was something major. I didn't see no warning lights come on but happy to hear it's normal. Wish it wasn't though

it's normal and part of the grade logic control system, it is more noticeable when you are going down an incline... Honda has been using this system since 1994 Honda accord at least...

Like everyone else said, it's completely normal and I agree it's a bit annoying at times.

The worse thing that can happen is when you are decelerating to approach a red light and suddenly the light turns green and the car downshifts and you just so happen to hit the throttle right when it downshifted.

You get a unexpected jolt. First time it happened to me I thought there was serious tranny problems but than I remembered the engine braking around the same speed it happened

Man I just picked up a 07 and first thing I noticed was that. This is my first automatic I owned and still trying to get used to not slamming my left foot down when I start the car.

I haven't drove it too much but I already brake until 25 then let off until about 15 and brake again. Sort of like downshift/engine brake on a manual.
