debadged 1 wk old car, still see imprint .. help

hey guys, i just recently purchased an 06 TL in NBP. after i debadged the "ACURA" emblem, i could still slightly see the imprint of where the "ACURA" used to be. the "TL" emblem came off pretty clean. any ideas on how i could fix/cover it up? will it go away w/time? thanks guys!

Try some rubbing alcohol. It should go away, but if it doesn't I think a simple wax should fix it/detail job should fix it.

Rubbing alcohol won't damage it, use lightly however. Anything in excess could damage it. Dab with cotton cloth / cotton ball.

I had the same problem. What I did was first use goo gone to make sure all the glue was gone. Then i put on two coats of Meguiars Scratch X and then three coats of Meguiars NXT paste wax.

My bro has a NBP RSX and we debadged it but it still had that imprint on there. What i did was use goo gone, rubbing alcohol, quick wax on it but it still was left on there. Just wait it out. All I do that car now is just regular washes whenever he comes back and now, I can't see it. Patience man.

Do NOT use Paint Thinner. This will damage the clear coat.

Just get some Scatch X or some type of light rubbing compound and polish to take it out.

Your dealer should have adhesive remover...they use it for the final detail before you pick up your car to get off the adhesive from the plastic that covers the car during shipping. Take a small bottle in to your dealer and ask for some. I am pretty sure it is just goo gone, but if your dealer uses it then it has to be ok.

Did not damage my clearcoat! Less rubbing than rubbing compound. Go with what you feel is best, just my

This will fade over a few days to a week to invisible once that area gets exposed to the same elements and oxygen in the air. It has been under "wraps" more or less to now. Usually some carnuba wax will take it away too...but either way...it will go away soon once exposed to the elements. If you did NOTHING...it would still fade in about a week.

If its the adhesive thats still there a soft cloth and WD-40 will remove it .. if its a ghost then a soft cloth and ScratchX.. Don't jump into the rubbing compound too fast .. you get the wrong one and you will have marring to try and fix next.

Also some of the adhesive removers and such have Xylene in them and its not very clear coat friendly and can cause clear failure down the road.

Try a small amount of mild rubbing compound or do as the first guy said and just grab an alcohol prep pad from a first aid kit...

try goo-gone and bug & tar remover, worked really well on removing the 'shadow' on my friends 99 m-a-x-i-m-a lettering. We also used wd-40 and cleaner wax, but it seemed like the other stuff did the main trick. Hit it up with some more wax after your done and you should be all good.

Because there might be too much of a color difference. I've seen people that debaged their car when it is older and there is noticeable diffence in color

On my car, the adhesive used etched into the paint. Not bad, just etched in around the corners of the letter. NO amount of wax will take that out.

You can debadge your car 5 years later. You just need to buff it a little. Compound/Polish then Wax/Sealant.

I debadged my car which is 15 months old. Heated badges with hair dryer, used dental floss, then Turtle Wax Bug & Tar Remover, and carnauba wax. Didn't even need to wax because everything was clean without leftover imprints, but did it just for the hell of it. Looks great

what i did was used a heat gun and then even after going that route, i still had some residue. i wetted the area and rubbed it with latex gloves on. that got the bulk of it off. and i agree with the scratch X, that stuff will clear it out perfectly! good luck bro

I just did mine last night, you have to compound it, then polish it and finish with Wax....the imprint was there and after I finished buffing it.....it was crystal clear....on an 02TLS
