Dealership wasted my time

I called a week in advance to schedule an appointment to have the 3rd & 4th Transmission Pressure Switch replaced. I scheduled this on a weekend since I work a 5 day work week.

So I bring my car in and tell the service tech to do the pressure switch. He inquires why I'm changing it, I told him "it's changing gears a lil rough and I know there's no codes getting thrown at me. I just want it changed just because".

2 hours go by and the service tech comes up to me and tells me, you may want to change your Engine mounts, which may be the feeling of the rough gear changes. I was like no, I can hold off that for now, I want do the pressure switch. So the service tech says "sorry we don't have that part available, not sure why our inventory didn't have it".

They even test drove my car which I didn't even request it. Man...

Wow.. I was upset. Wasted 2 hours of my time plus my drive to the dearlship and cancelled plans.

OP is your car still under warranty? If it is you should have them do it. If not, I guess its time to DIY. There is a ton of good info on here, good luck.

if you are unsatisfied with the service you've received make sure you communicate to the right folks who will acknowledge your concern.

Will they replace the pressure switches under warranty? I mean, they really are not faulty right? They just get gummed up?

Looking at the DIY pictures. The 3rd pressure switch location, is that the front engine mount? I want to verify that the service tech was telling the truth that the engine mount is bad.

I would like like to add my first experience the first time I tried asking to have it changed.

I believe it was like a year ago when i wanted the pressure switches changed but the service advisor I went to gave me grief and I should only change the part if required. So I just had them do the 3x3 AT fluid change. So I figured, I'll change my service advisor since she isn't kool like that.

My past experience with the dealership during the weekend really upset me soo I had to unleash it by playing MW3 in TDM to kick some butt.

Sounds like a good time to find an independent shop to do the work. If the dealership won't do a job upon your request, they can go fly a kite....Isn't that what they are there for?

Call up acura client services and tell them of your experience! It was not right at all for the dealer to waste your time for over 2 hrs when they didn't have the parts available!

They would never do it under warranty unless it throws a code. In there eyes, it's a good part. In our eyes, it's preventative maintenance.

I hate when you ask dealer to change something and they response as "why would you want to replace XYZ?" you pay for the part and service just shut up and do it already.

I think for all the acurazine-ers this holds true, but I could see service advisors getting a lot of customers in requesting a specific service be done to fix what the customer thinks the problem is, but not necessarily the actual problem. The last thing a service advisor wants is an unhappy customer screaming because the dealership replaced their taillight fluid but the road vibration (that they never mentioned) still exists.

But yeah, when you request a specific preventative maintenance item and they give you that confused look (like you don't know what you're talking about, even after you've explained it)...

^^^well lets see, you hire a guy to pave your drive way and he asked you "why would you want to pave the drive way? dirt drive way is good enough to park your car." I mean you paying for a service it should be done according to your expectation and he shouldn't asking you why.

No. They get out of calibration over time causing excessive wear on the transmission. The only cure is to replace them.

UPDATE: I decided not to do the pressure switch myself since the dealership offered to do it for 50% off. Which was a mistake. To make a long story short, I asked to keep the old pressure switches. So when I pick up my car and look for the parts. I only see 2 pressure switches. Yes, only 2... 2 pressure switches. So I go back to the tech advisor and ask why there is only 2? So the advisor looks for the tech that worked on my car. The tech comes up and says there is only 2. I kindly explain to him there is 3 switches for the car, and tell him the 04-06 have 2 and the 07-08 models have 3.

So they have to get the paperwork and yes it confirms 3 pressure switches were paid for. What happend to the 3rd pressure switch? Anyway, they were gonna send myself home without telling me they didn't do the 3rd pressure switch. Wow... Are you serious.. Good thing I asked for the parts and was well informed, other wise i would of been screwed thinking they completed their job.

I will be going to the manager today to talk about the situation.

Most dealerships are a bunch of guys walking around in button up shirts with little to no knowledge whatsoever.

UPDATE: Here's what the manager's response via e-mail. Wow... they offered to cover the cost even though I already paid for the services. Are you kidding me.

Ok this is what they are telling me about the visits 1st was as you say parts not here then Todd turned it over to Archie the following weekend and ordered 2 switches- on Saturday the tech Dave broke or switch came apart and they had to go to another location for a switch –forgetting to internal

One of the switches therefore you paid for three switches and got only two –so what we owe you is one more switch and we pick up the labor. So if this is story of the visits and you agree –we will install switch at no cost to you. I will also offer to pick up do repair and deliver back to you I understand that the part should be here tomorrow if you agree with all this we will pick up vehicle Wednesday .

Wow, that guy needs to take an English class, I could barely read the run on sentence and terrible word usage....As long as you get your car fixed and are happy, that's what matters. I would find a new dealer after this ordeal.
