Dashboard light bulb woes

I just replaced the cup holder assembly in my TL because the roll-up door split. The whole process was easy enough except for losing a few of the metal clips, that hold down the two metal trim pieces, which I need to order and replace. The bigger problem as a result of work is that now most of the buttons around the nav display don't light up. The only buttons that light up are the temp up/down on the driver's side and the front/rear defroster buttons on the passenger side. Everything works fine but not having the buttons visible at night is a little inconvenient.

Any idea what happened? I plan on removing the metal trim pieces (again) and seeing if I can do anything. Is it easy to pull out the nav unit?

Most likely bulbs were at their way out. Filament was fragile, and additional movement from removing silver trim might broke it.

So now you need to replace those bulbs, or convert to LEDs. If you're replacing, you need to replace all of them.

well you don't NEED to, but chances are they are going to go out anyway, so you "might as well"

yes its easy top pull out the navi unit but it require removal of the center console along with clock display assembly then remove navi screen and radio as 1 unit.

Having to deal with a similar situation... Do I have to take out both of the side panels in order to remove the Navi screen? I tried to do it last week but it was very hard to get to the screws...
