Dallas TL deals?

Hey guys, I'm back, went through a BMW and G35 (even a Hemi truck), and now can't pass up a new TL.

Has anyone had any luck with Dallas area dealers? Who to work with and how to get the best deal. .. thanks for any help!

Time to get caught up!

DMD Acura

Just up the street from you. Go to David McDavid Acura on Plano Pkwy and ask for Charlie. He was upfront, honest and did not play any games unlike a particular dealer in Irving.
I was very pleased w/ my purchasing process.

Hey man, long time no see. (I drive a silver CL, I've seen you in Plano a few times.)

Can't believe you got rid of the G35 so quickly. Good luck on your next purchase. Here's an early welcome to the Acura Club.

I had a great experience with David McDavid, too. My sales consultant was Brendan...very knowledgeable and not pushy in any way...about the most easy going car guy I've ever run across. Plus, their delivery guy might just be the best in the business...did an outstanding job on the feature walk-through.

PM me if you'd like his contact info. Good luck with your search.

Absolutely agree about the delivery guy. I believe his name is Cranston.

Hey Mantis! I remember you of course! Yep, we ended up getting a house in McKinney, so we sold larger price things like the G35.. it sold before the bmw did, or I might still have it. We kept the 323ci for a little while but ended up selling it too.. we bought an Accord (wife) and a 03 Hemi.. truck is gone (11mpg!!) and I'm driving the Accord until I get the wife through grad school and we can get another income going... it's very painful! She's driving her mother's car which is saving us money thank goodness.

So sounds like McDavid has a good rep.. I've driven one over there.. talked to one salesman who was very nice and not pushy at all..

I've heard Vandergriff gives good deals.. haven't heard from anyone who's dealt with them yet.

Dallas TL Deals

Definitely don't go to Goodson Acura in Irving. I was originally was going to purchase my car from Goodson but instead chose Vandergriff Acura in Arlington. I got mine when the TL first came out so there was basically no room to negotiate off the sticker. It's not like I wasn't expecting otherwise. Just as a precaution I went to Vandergriff just for the hell of it. I was approached by the salesperson, Gary Dehall, as he saw me admiring the vehicle. I explained to him I was actually getting the car from another dealer. I informed him of the details of my agreement and he said you should come to me first. I told him the only thing that matters to me is the bottom line, my bottom line. Not only did they offer me a cheaper interest rate (3.9%) but also threw in some freebies (mudguards & roof wind deflector). I'm quite sure they are willing to negotiate off the sticker, now that the TL has been out for a while.

$1500 over invoice for Anthracite/Ebony/5AT/Navi...picked up from McDavid on 6/29/04. That included window tint and splash guards and, of course, destination charge.

They seemed more willing to give me more on my trade-in than to come down any further on the TL.

Robert Kendall was my salesperson and David McDavid. Great guy through the whole process. I paid $31,100 for 5at/Anthracite/Quartz/Non-Navi and destination. Bought it 7-31-04.

Hey all, longtime reader, 1st post. I bought my TL last night. I first dealt with Goodson Acura, and let me tell ya.. they BLOW! They lied to me just to get me into the showroom, (avoid the internet sales guy: oscar) anyway.. they were very rude and I was totally unimpressed. On the other hand, I went to David McDavid in Plano.. they are AWESOME. My salesman was Brent Harris, a class act, best sales person I've ever talked to. The sales manager is cool too, they are all very up front and honest unlike Goodson. I got my NBP TL w/Nav and Body Kit for 34,500. I don't have an opinion on Vandergriff since I never thought about going to Arlington from Garland.. Anyway, I hope this helps!

Got a quote from Mac Churchill in Ft Worth for a NBP/Parch 5AT Navi for $33,320 ($1200 over invoice) including desination charge. As of yesterday, they still had the car (windows were already tinted on it) on the lot...My local dealer in OKC matched their price so I'm not buying that particular car from them. Ask for Truong...seems like a decent guy...

I too got mine @ McDavid Acura. I dealt with Bob Kukowski, in internet sales. This guy was old (meaning experienced) and I didn't want to deal with him initially. Eventually, I just told him what I wanted, how much I'm willing to pay and we met on my own terms , believe it or not. Good guy, I would recommend him.

One thing about Cranston, the delivery guy. When he was giving me the tour of the car during delivery, he asked me if I can find the sunglass holder and bet that if I find it he'll give me a moonroof visor! He didn't expect me to find it, but I did. Although I got it for free and wasn't part of the negotiations, it took me a while to get that visor. I think he had to get clearance from his boss or something.

Well, just to give another side to Goodson. I bought my WDP, 6MT, Navi back on Dec 22. I paid 33,500 for it. My company has worked out a discount there and the salesmen were very easy to work with. I have taken the car in for service and it has been the best experience I have ever had with a dealer’s service dept. They try and get another TL for me to use. They even worked out a deal for me about the memory seat issue. I ended up getting floor mats and BSM molding out of them for the inconvenience.

Just my 2 cents.

It was the old issue where the memory would just disappear. I don’t remember the details, but you would get in the car and try and hit the button for memory 1 and it would do nothing. They had a fix for this back in March I think.

That is, if you don't mind buying a car that's been wrecked. Buyer beware!

I've bought two cars from Trong at Mac Churchill...03 MDX and 04 TL...both at invoice...got the first '04 TL they sold. No BS with either purchase...straight invoice which was all I expected...nothing added on.

lsbuffs, you bought their first '04 TL at invoice? Do you mean sticker, or invoice?
