D2S HID Capsule Upgrade

What brand is the best for this upgrade? i've heard the Philips are good but they are quite pricey. Let me know what you think.

Hm... what's there to upgrade? Philips & Osram are the best out there and the bulbs are designed to out-last the average ownership of the car. The difference in lumens between the two is probably 100-200, which is not very noticeable. The Philips will put down slightly yellower light on the ground (which is good for visibility), but you have to really nit-pick to argue that as an "improvement/upgrade" over what comes stock for the TL.

yeah it might be seen as more of a mod than a true upgrade. i looking to go to the 6k or 8k coloring. i was also looking into changing the lens. any feedback would be appreciated.

Kaixen brand are used by many gen2 TLrs
4300k is stock color
5000 is slightly more blue with good white on the road
6000 is more blue with less white on the road
Both pick out road lines and signs better than 4300

check with Excelerate for the ziner deal - about 110 a pair shipped
dont go 8000 you cant see the road at all

Philips are whiter than Osrams

Osrams are yellower than Philips.

The higher in color temperature you go, the worse your visibility will be. They will be dimmer too.

Our eyes do not respond to blue very well.

In my opinion, the stock color temp is the best to use and is the only street legal color.

I'll never understand why people want higher temperature bulbs...maybe to be different.

KAIXEN offers a reasonably priced high quality replacement HID bulb.

everyone who has Kaixen in gen2 is very happy with them!! thanks Josh

Most think you can see better on the road surface with 5000
but 6000 is cool looking and works good if you dont drive in extreme darkness backroads--they have less white on the road but do pick out lines and signs wayyyy better than stock
