What stores/shops would I look for if I wanted to custom make an intake and have them weld stuff together?

I dont really want to take it to the exhaust shop...it will need to be more than work with pipes...like metal panels and stuff like that.

I will check out metal fabrication shops...is that what they go by in the phone book, or is there a fancier term for thaT?

^ - dont take it to an exhaust shop. call your exhaust shop to get a rec. on where to take it. usually people assume an exhaust shop with a pipe bender and a welder will know how to do everything, which isnt the case. they do, however, usually know where you can take it. if there are two or three places, they will be able to tell you the best one.

The only exhaust shops around here are hole in the wall shops...I just have a shitty feeling about getting a good recommendation from them. But I guess I can give it a try.

you're going to be looking for a sheet metal shop if you want panels done and all. It'd be kinda differnt to have the tube not standard tube.

When I worked at an exhaust shop we would have at least 5 calls a day regarding custom fabrication. Everyone got so sick of answering the questions we quickly learned where the local fabrication shops were and knew the name of them, their phone number, and address. Its worth a shot to see if they were dealign with the same kind of annoyance.

I don't know about So Cal, but here in the Bay Area the only place to go to is

Metal Magic
333 Kennedy St
Oakland, CA
510-436-5133

Craig is a genius, pure and simple. Maybe not the fastest turnaround in the world, but a genius nonetheless.
