So the ATLP quad exhaust was ordered and all I need now is to get a type s rear bumper and to get it painted. The paint shop I went to, to get my front type s bumper painted was located near my school but unfortunately I am in NYC for the summer. That place had amazing top of the notch work and it's surprising and ironic, given that it's seemingly in the middle of nowhere. (Autoworks in Ithaca, NY)

Well school is 4.5 hours away and I am not driving up there just for a paint job that lasts more than a day. I was wondering if anyone knows of an EXCELLENT paint shop, that can paint a rear bumper <$300 that can master the 3-stage pearl paint that Acura so prominently uses?

Paint is B92P, 3 stage paint with pearl.

I did a search, and I found this thread:

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...t+shops+queens

and It said "Classic Automotive." Can anyone vouch for this place or recommend another? Remember, I want to see that NBP shine, but the blue pearl effect in the sunlight.

Oh and also, I'd be willing to drive to NJ, or borderline CT if it's worth the trip.

ANY input is very much appreciated, I need to get this project going before the summer ends and I have to go back up to school.

Why don't you hit up Ahman (06 Acura TL) He's done a bunch of work in NYC for satisfied members on here.

Is "classic automotive" on rockaway blvd in ozone park? If so i heard this guy is good. He actually installed did my a-spec kit. I have never seen his paint work though.

When my car was hit i went to this guy in Oceanside, LI. The shop is "impressive autobody" His work is very good but his price seems kinda expensive. I went through insurance so i didn't pay. If you're interested I'll give u the number.

I don't think he owns that shop anymore

impressive would probably run you $250... but honestly... why not just get the type s rear lip

I did the install on jguerra's car... just requires cutting the opening up, then the middle grill is a fake $6 piece...

Hm.. when I got my front bumper painted, they said it was a 3 stage process and another excellent shop I just called up confirmed that as well..

Do you guys think $400 is worth it?

I already sold my base bumper with rear aspec to someone, now I have his old bumper which is all banged up lol.

So there's no turning back.

Yonke Collision does painting; and a damn good job too; did a bunch of touch up work on my parent's cars before they had to turn it in when lease was up;

also is one of the few body shops i know that matched anthracite metallic really well (worked on my car a few years ago.

just make sure when you go; 1) you dont look like a jackass 2) dont let their rough manner intimidate you

I use to paint for an Acura dealer direct shop, painted that color at least twice a week. BASF RM paint is a 2 stage, its a good quality system. Its a fact this color does not need to be sprayed in 3 stages. Shops can save a little material cost by laying down a solid black ground coat. That's probably what they are doing, then charging more for 3 stage.

Its just black tint with a few other solid tints and blue pearl tint. IMO its BS they claim it to be a 3 stage since it doesn't need to be a 3 stage, but I don't know what paint system they use. I've never seen it as a 3 stage, always referred as a OE 2 stage.

You could always ask exactly what paint system they will use. Then call a supplier/distributor and check to confirm its a 2 stage. I bet its not 3 stage.
