Ehh not really anymore cautious than buying a used car anywhere else. My rare MRP 6mt with crazy low mileage was a craigslist find. The transaction went super smooth and the car is incredible. I always say dont let craigslist scare you away because sometimes the best deals and rare finds are hidden on there :-)

As far as craigslist goes, its pretty easy to single out the sketchy adds compared to the real legit ones with a serious and honest seller.

It's all about due-diligence. The sooner you call the owner and start asking questions the faster you weed out the posers and scammers. We've had terrific experience buying and selling on CL in Minneapolis.

Well I completely understand, but sometimes if you want to get the right car there is no other way. So you do your homework and if everything checks out go for it. Sure there is more risk involved over driving 5 miles down the street, but how often are you going to find THE car locally? I have purchased 5 cars out of state from either ebay, autotrader, or craigslist and with proper research and questions it hasnt failed me yet. Were talking flights to states in other parts of the country. Not only has it found me some of the best cars, but the best deals as well and it makes for s very exciting and fun day trip :-)

ive never once had a problem with craigslist. found my type s 6mt with 44k miles for 5k under NADA private party sale with a clean title and no accidents. Drove 5 hours each way to find the car and totally worth it.

I bought my CBP AT Type S on Craigslist. I paid a little over a grand more, but mine has less miles. The owner transferred the active warranty over to me and Acura just sent me my paperwork. Car is in mint condition inside, with only a few minor issues on the exterior (in which I've already corrected). Serviced by Acura from day 1 and certified.
I got a good sense of the sellers credibility during the 2 week negotiation period and it became obvious he was an ethical person. Great guy who I've actually been in contact with since the purchase.

I purchased my 6mt type s in Florida and drover her back home to NC, do your research and have it checked out by a dealership and you are fine. Craigslist should not scare you away, plenty of good cars on there

Just be careful when purchasing from CraigsList.

Technically the op made it about Craigslist when he posted a link there . My comment was that it was better suited for a regional forum than the general area due to the market of buyers being likely more concentrated in the regional vs the general forum.

Not everyone checks the Regional section of the forum.

there are a lot of good deals on craigslist here in LA. The auto parts section is highly populated and lots of competition. However there are also A LOT of flakers and time wasters, just need to be smart about weeding them out. it's not hard once you get used to it though
