Im thinking 35 front 20 rear
i know 20 all around is probably the best looking but I cant afford to have cops haggling me. What do you think?
Can you guys post pictures of your rides with their tint so I can compare?
Thanks in advance
p.s: anyone from sac/davis area? Im moving there for school and probably going to start modding like crazy in a few months

Try the Photograph section. Should be plenty of TL's with tint.

Shades of Gray tint in PA has a forum with a bunch of photos of their work. Above is a link to their Acura section and it has a lot of TLs.

I dont like how mix matched tint percents looks on cars. I say go with one percent all around or none at all. I have always had 20% on my cars and now I just think thats too dark. I just got my 07 TL-S tinted with 35% all around and IMO looks amazing!!! Not to dark but at the same time the tint is very effective and visible.

I have 20% in my back and 35% in the front.
In the daytime you can see the difference that the back is darker than front but, at night its almost completely dark. Not to mention my car is blk on blk.
I'll post a pic later on when i get home.
btw,..20% + driving in the rain = less visibility. Not saying im driving backwards but, when parallel parking, i sometimes hit the car behind me because its to frigging dark.

your interior has a lot to do with how dark your tint looks. black interior will make your tint look much darker. i have 18% carbon all around with camel interior and it doesn't look dark at all during the day. night is another story.
if the state you live in has the 35% limit you'll want to use 42% on your car since the OE glass already has a (very slight) tint to it. both combined will be very close to 35%.
btw...whatever you do don't mix tint %'s on the sides. it looks terrible!

20% on the rear glass and 35% on 4 sides.. best way to do it.
Lighter then getting 20% all around, and darker than getting 35% all around. Happy medium and no it does not look retarded, you wont be able to tell the 2 shades between rear glass and the sides. However if you did 2 different shades on the sides alone u can tell and that does look retarded.

IMO, 35% is a perfect clean look. With 20% the rear windows and rear just looks plain black.
I just picked up my TL and it has 20% all the way around and I'm going to remove it and have 35% or lighter installed. Every place around here has either 35% or 50%. I'd like to go with 40% or close to it and leave the back at 20%, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Are there only certain brands in 40% range?

they make 42% in the carbon film (not the cheap stuff). the carbon tint is what you'll need if you have navi or sat radio. won't disrupt signal.

I have a Faraday Cage in our wireless lab, so I know all about how to block RF transmissions.... Non-grounded metallic tint covering the windows of your car, will not block sh!t, especially since the rest of the car is not grounded/shielded.
One time while inside the faraday cage, I was able to receive a cell-phone call. Turns out the network cables inside the cage were not isolated with fiber-optic junctions at the entry point, like they were supposed to be. So that meant that my cell-phone call was received because the RF entered the Faraday cage through the Cat-5 wiring through the wall.
Do youthink metallic tint will shield your car more than THAT setup?

3M does have 40. I've found a local installer who is going to install the Crystaline 40 film for me. IMHO anything darker than 35% looks too ghetto.

I've seen a bunch of people that have 50% tint on their front windshield... It makes your car look darker. Yes, I know tinting your front windshield is illegal, but I heard that 50% is so light, that most people don't even notice you have any tint on there... Plus your dash will thank you...

Whatever you do keep it the same % all around. I say 35% to be safe. If I could do it again I would have done 20% cuz after 4 years my 35% looks like 50%

I have one friend that has 50% tint on the front windshield and it seemed fine to me... Main reason I didn't have it done, is because I use my defrosters all the time, especially in the fall/winter, and sometimes it gets bad enough where I need to wipe down the windshield to save time... I didn't want to risk scratching the tint in such a scenario... Plus, I'm always paranoid of getting that film on it. (I forget what it's called, but that film you get on your windshield sometimes from stuff evaporating off your dash). Cuz when that happens, you need to also wipe down the windshield to remove it, and I don't want to scratch the tint... Although the UV protection from the tint, may prevent the dash from doing that in the first place....

hmmm...maybe i should reconsider. i would love to do this. even at 50% a lot of UV is blocked. maybe my dash will quit fading!

whatever you do
MAKE SURE THEY CAN DO YOUR REAR PANELS CORRECTLY!
you do not, i repeat, DO NOT want that gray strip showing on your rear panel windows!
i had a bad experience with that issue just recently and it is so much of a hassle! i have a thread posted up with some pictures of it.
other than that, i have 20% all around and it looks hella dark xP i love it but others may not due to the fact it is a lot harder to see behind you at night, so reversing is a b*tch. xP
and actually what i've noticed, i have 20% all around but during the day, the front sometimes looks less dark then the back anyways becuz the light coming through the windshield seems to make the front windows lighter. just a thought. =]
goodluck.
