Could anybody give me a rough estimate of cost to repair this dent?
Somebody hit & ran my car. Trying to just be grateful that I own a car that I love, and thankfully the paint makes it not as noticeable in person. Have never had bodywork done on a car before by a shop & was hoping someone may be able to give me a ballpark of what I should expect to pay. It appears a little metal piece holding a plastic clip behind the fender may have been bent as well.
if it was a hit and run, why not use your insurances "uninsured motorist claim" and only pay $250 for the deductible?
the damage could be less than $250, but we can't estimate that...Only a body shop can estimate....so go get quotes from several body shops....
or try some PDR(Paintless Dent Removal)
it could be only $100 in damages which the PDR people can pull out..
but who the heck knows until you go get quotes.
I was recently involved in a hit and run.. worth $3k in damages....
I paid $250 for the uninsured motorist claim to my insurance and now my car is BETTER than new... insurance bought me a new bumper.
Depending on your comfort level and how anal you are about your car but that could probably be easily fixed by yourself. Heat it up a tiny bit with a heat gun or hair dryer and pop it back into place by pushing on it from behind. Little paint polish and touch up and that's it. Of course I'm assuming nothing is broken like any clips and the spot where the bumper and quarter panel meets. If it were me I would totally try it.
This is what I did to my wife's car when it was hit.
this after pic is before polish and touch up paint
Young, and dumb me only has liability insurance. Will be making the switch soon now that this happened, thanks for your advice.
P.s oh my you have the dream TL
Couldnt find a way to get behind where the dent is the day it happened, about to spend a few hours looking & will respond with results
Thanks for your response!
getting to that area is a pain in the butt. call a paintless dent person and they might be able to massage it out with little remaining damage. You have to take off the spare tire cover, then take off the trunk liner on the driver side. look at DIY on how to do stereo's and removal of trunk trims.
