Consumer Reports April 2005 Best Cars

Same stuff but one surprise

TL - Top Pick
MDX - Recommended
RSX - Recommended
TSX - Recommended
RL - "The powertrain is refined, but ride and handling are nothing special. Interior room is not much better than the much less expensive TL.

what's the surprise... ? Are they basing this all on price? room for price? quality for price? If you get about the same performance and ride comfort in the TL why shell out 16000 more for it..

Just wondering where you got this info from. Online or the magazine? If online, is there a link (that doesn't cost $$)? I looked online at the March Issue and the only thing I see under autos is Minivan road tests. Thanks.

It's in the April hard copy magazine.

ya, doesn't cost $$ cuz you don't get everything you get when you actually buy the mag.

Acura may have set themselves up for this type of criticism with the "Super Handling AWD" marketing. It's a fine system, but it may create elevated expectations. The way that CR tests cars, with a focus on real-world use and value, they may come away wondering what all the fuss is about. An enthusiast magazine would probably be more likely to report on how the system delivers both fine ride quality and capable handling. As far as the size criticism, it's not much bigger than the TL - so what! Like the TL, it's comfortable and doesn't need to be larger. Is it supposed to be larger because it costs more? It's a car, not a whopper value meal!

No real surprise I guess. The RL is a little pricey but the handling might have counted for more. This is the summary information that they print about various models currently on sale by brand. 4/5 is pretty darn good IMHO.
