Considering selling my TL-S
Hey guys. It's not for sale yet, but I'm giving it thought because I want to move up. There isn't another one like it for sale in the entire country. Hell I don't think there's one like it in the Western Hemisphere. Thoughts on what it would be worth? Not asking for offers, just suggestions on pricing. 2008 TL-S with A-spec appearance package, never exposed to inclement weather, 34000 miles, no accidents, not a single blemish/imperfection in or out and brand new Michelins all around.

Looks great, goodluck with the sale! If there is anyone to talk to about selling a Type S its me :-D There is a KBP/Ebony Type S with less than half your mileage around here in Chicago one owner mint (atleast according to the add). He is asking $24,000 its automatic and an 08 and I think KBB says around 22K for it. The good news is with that particular car its a sellers market. Like you said there will be very few KBP Type S's with that mileage available. Even though its automatic, its still a one of a kind vehicle that will bring a lot of interest. If it helps set the mark for you, if I were to list my showroom new 15,000 mile 6mt MRP Type S right now, I would probably list it at $25,000. There simply is not another one like it in the country. The most important thing is to create a very well done add. I have sold probably about four Type S's on my own (5at and 6mt), and each one has sold within a week of listing to the first person to see them. Its all about the add and how the car is presented when the buyer shows up...assuming no issues and the car is infact mint which yours looks to be.
If you have any questions please let me know.

Haha I hear you there on the manual trans. When I bought this car 4 years ago I had two requirements: 1.) low miles (bought with 16k on it) and 2.) KBP color. I wanted a 6 speed, but there weren't any out there, so I settled for the auto, which imho was a blessing in disguise. Its a smooth ride, which plays into the car's elegance. I know bc we also have a 2007 TLS with a 6 speed. It's the MRP one in the photo above. It's a more aggressive ride. Anyway, I want to get a used NSX and they go for like 60 grand lol. However, I'm not sure I want to lose my KBP due to its rareness. I like it more the older it gets. I've had nsx on the brain..... Oh ever since I was about 14.

Thanks for the input guys. It has been helpful. I think I'm probably best off just keeping it. It's such a rewarding car to have because it's unique. I'm kind of glad that its two successors (4th gen and TLX) haven't had the same appeal as it makes the 3rd gen all the more special. Nothing against those two cars because they are each great in their own right.

Quite the problem selling a car that's TOO clean.
It has been succeeded by 2 other generations and it's low miles, so technically it's almost a new car, but like airpeace said potential buyers don't look at it the way we do.
You can always test out the waters and see if someone wants it though, because technically, the longer you wait, the more it'll depreciate.

Just because it's a private sale does not mean it's a cash only transaction. Loans with great rates are readily available for private party sales as well. Also, I see what you are saying about the age of the car, but remember it's not going to be just your average buyer. They are looking exactly for a Type S and no other car so age is sort of irrelevant. Besides, we aren't talking about your average 7 year old car with 110k miles. We are talking about very low mileage cars that are in as good condition as 2013 or 2014 vehicles. The Type S has always held its value extremely well and it will continue to for exceptional examples like this one.
OP, Winter isn't the best time to sell in northern states either so keep that in mind. And for what it's worth like you guys said about it being 3 generations out of date now. I park next to a new TLX at work and when I take my Type S it looks 20 times better than that car. The TLX just looks like any other run of the mill sedan. With the Type S you just know it's something a little more special.

^^^^I have to agree with you here, although the TLX got many new tech (consider the year lol). TLX doesn't get my head turn head but a clean 3g TL will get my attention really quick. I remember sit a light and some lade pull up with her brand new TLX and her face impression is priceless when she saw the Type S badge lol.

Lol everybody wants a stick. They are impossible to come by because there are so few. In the luxury sedan tl-s world, the automatic isn't bad. If you really want the tl-s stick experience, just go get an 03-07 v6 accord coupe manual. It's just as fast as the TL-s 6speed.

22-23K seems to be reasonable like everyone else said. A local dealership just sold a NBP auto 07 type-s for 27K. It had 20K miles and was full stock.
Just checked the local listings again and there's another type-s same as above but with 42K miles going for 20K. Makes me realize the 3G TL holds its value really well! I see 4G TL going for less lol.

Secondly, don't get me wrong when i said the car is almost 7 years old. i love the 3G and proud to be a 3G owner. I still think it's the best looking generation, much better looking than the 4G and the TLX. However, you can't neglect the fact that it's a 7 years old car even it holds its value extremely well, much better than newer TLs. let me ask you, if OP asks for 27k which would be fair in his opinion because he babys his car. but as a potential buyer would you rather spend 27k on 7 years old car or a brand new 2015 accord for example? it's just the fact most cars depreciate in time and most people just love the new car smell.
Finally the TL type S is just a very special and unique car and i dont think the TLX comes anywhere close to the type S status. Plus Acura is having a difficult time dealing with the new tranny problem and its reliability is not the same anymore.

First of all, i am pretty sure OP or any sellers want cold hard cash upon selling instead of dealing with loan and other unnecessary stuffs.

That said, not sure how's interest rate for you guys, but here used car loan is ~7% at best for cars over $12K. New car loans start at 0%.
Quite the difference down the road if you don't have $22K of cold hard cash.
That's $4K just in interest if you take it over 60 months, + $22K for your capital. Monthly that's $435.
That means you can technically get a $26K brand new car at 0% and pay it over 5 years or get a 7 years old $22K Acura TL-S with 34K miles for the same final price.
Sure you probably won't get the same kick out a new car than you'd get in a TL-S for $26K, but that's food for thought.

Most of the ones I kept seeing were over the 200K km too. Not that it can't last that long, but everything is just softer at that point.
