Comptech Supercharger installed by Kenny Tran $4900

My girlfriend's cousin is very close to Kenny Tran. I didn't even know who he was until earlier ago. He's featured in magazines and some sort. Basically I talked to him and hes gonna put a CAI and Supercharger for $4900 for me. This a good deal?

if that's parts and labor, you've come across a hell of a deal.

I'm failing to see where that's such a great deal . Excelerate has the SC for $3,900/$4,100 depending on whether you want CT's intake. That guy in Jersey installed them for around $800 for everybody, and I can get it installed locally for around $800, as well, I believe. Not belittling it, but it just seems to be the going rate to me, nothing special.

Yea. RETAIL of the s/c was like $4,950... It was easy to find for $4,550.. Excelerate is around $3,950

Installaion can either be done yourself, (not recommended) or i would expect to pay about $600-$700 installation...So , its not the GREATEST deal, but its definitely not the retail MSRP

i would shop around if i were you... i used to live in dallas and haven't heard all positive things about jotech... i was looking to get simple exhaust work (cut and weld) and headers installed and was quoted 800 for just the labor... the work is average at most and most of the times its his people that are doing the work... if you go to arlington there is a whole strip of hole in the wall shops that do great custom work... i forgot the one i ended up going to but i saved alot of money and did a hell of a job...

im not knocking kenny tran and his shop but just shop around to see what the going rate is... he may give u a deal because you know him through someone... it just wasn't the case for me...

oh ok I'll search around, because we're visiting him/cousins this christmas so I'm seeing whether I should do it. He told me he would also install any other mods I want such as wheels im trying to get, exhaust, and the aspec kit.

o.O

Didn't think wheels would qualify as needing to be "installed."

its just an install.... not like there's anything special if he installs it or if you installed it (that's if you can)

i paid 3700 SHIPPED to my house 2 years ago from an acura dealer on the west coast.....
you dont need a CAI with the s/c kit, unless you custom rig one.

If you dont have a custom CAI for your supercharger, you are missing out.
Sounds much better and a nice bump in HP. When i was running the stock exhaust the change from the intake Comptech gives you to a custom CAI was a nice whine(stock) to F1 car with the custom intake. I paid $1200 for my install.

I think if you are not comfortable doing it yourself then using someone with a reputable name like Kenny Tran and Jotech then its a pretty decent deal. He's been around a while and knows how to make horsepower.

For future reference, Acura Lynnwood, in WA state, sells the kits for super cheap from time to time.

Last one I installed for a customer, he paid 3500!

If this guy is so reputable, then it might be worth extra $ to avoid headaches in the future.

Sometimes getting the best price on a product is not the best "deal."
