Coming from a UA6 to UA7
So I’ve been a member on this forum for a few years now but I rarely post. Mostly I just lurk and gather knowledge. But anyways I wanted to make my presence known and introduce my old car and my new car. This past summer I got caught in a flash flood and ended up hydrolocking my WDP 2008 Base TL w/Nav. I owned that car since 2017 and it was a car I sought after for a long time. I traded my 05 RSX for it when I found it at a local Honda dealership.
The car was bone stock when I purchased it aside from having a OEM front lip. I managed to keep it stock longer than expected before I added AEM V2, RV6 PCD’s, ATLP V2-R J Pipe, custom aftermarket mufflers and quad tips. And eventually lowered it on some Tein H tech springs mated to OEM Type S struts. I also added the Endless Carbon Fiber duckbill and replaced all of the engine bay covers since they were taken off by the previous owner. I eventually just added some XXR 530 wheels and Firestone Indy 500’s.
The 3G TL has been one of the most solid daily driver cars I’ve ever owned. But after mine got hydrolocked I started looking at other options such as replacing it with an IS250/350 just because I didn’t want to start over with another TL. Once I got the call that mine was being totaled by the insurance company I started narrowing down my search as I had about 8 cars lined up to check out. And I came across a 2008 Carbon Bronze Pearl Type S. And that is one of my favorite colors the car was offered in so I messaged the seller and arranged to check it out the next day. I checked the car out and negotiated a price within 20 minutes of seeing the car. Owning a TL made it super easy to know what to look for and the best thing about this car aside from it being a Type S was it didn’t have a cracked dash unlike my Base. And it had 30K less miles than my Base had at the time. So it ended up being a no brainer and possibly the best decision I could have made was sticking with this platform. I’m planning on keeping this one stock for as long as I can before the mod bug bites again.
I had the opportunity to swap all mods over and chose not to. But if and when I do decide to mod this thing I already know where I’m going to start. For now I’m just enjoying the comfort and the stock ride height offers as well as not having to worry about route selection anymore. In hindsight though I wish I would have kept my J Pipe.

From all of my searching the rear and sides are discontinued completely a long with a lot of the other accessories for this platform. The front lips I believe are no longer in production, they just haven’t sold out yet of the NBP & WDP variants. I’m going to guess that once those are sold out that’s a wrap for that supply as well.

The only accessory lip available to order is the front lip and this do to the popularity of the lip. Remember the 3G TL has the highest Acura sedan sale units in North America (correct me if I am wrong) , majority new TL owner can't distinguish differences between Base lip vs Aspec and even fewer even know about the existence of the 07-08 Base lip. Social media platform had boosted the sale of the front Type S lip.
At this moment Honda still seeing a good sale volume of front lip hence they bring them back to production as they were discontinued before.
OP I got two Type S rear lip (one as back up and the other one for my red TL) and I didn't paid $500 plus for a used lip lol.

Did a few new things to the Type S over the past few months, nothing major but some subtle mods.
Added a RV6 strut bar in candy red so I could adjust my coils easier when needed.
My chrome Acura emblem ended up breaking off while I was cleaning my engine cover so I decided to throw on a type R one to try and match the red on the engine cover and strut bar.
Removed the halogen “3000K” Nokya bulbs I had and went with some 3000K LEDs and they are way brighter and more visible on the road at night.
Came up on an extra set of Brembo’s and had them refinished since my black ones needed paint from brake fluid eating the clear coat away.
Getting the new calipers ceramic coated before installing them, makes them so much easier to keep clean.
Ordered a billet oil cap and new radiator cap because my oem one decided to take a dump.
Freshly bathed.
Also had to do some maintenance work on her as well..
Alternator
Valve cover gaskets
Serpentine belt tensioner
Passenger motor mount
Still having a small bit of an oil leak on my oil pan so I guess I need to get that resealed next, because I was certain the oil was coming from the valve cover gasket because that’s what happened on my old TL base. But not this one, the valve covers were definitely leaking and burning off oil. But that didn’t resolve the oil that’s getting onto the oil pan issue.

Super clean TL. I have a WDP UA7 on tein coils and slotted rotors going in soon. Loving the CBP and that profile shot in the twilight!
Mind me asking where you are? Looks like southern Louisiana based on the architecture.

The oil pan leaking most likely cause by oil pump assembly leak, every J series has this problem. This is why I highly recommend people to reseal the oil pump assy during TB/WP service. Any pic of the GSF? lol

Definitely not a lot of clean TL’s around, glad to know there’s another one lurking. I daily this car and I work in Metairie so you’ll probably see me driving at some point.

Haha. Maybe so. I drive a white Type S, looks almost exactly like the white one you had in your pictures. I daily drive to Slidell so the miles are going up fast tho. The is a beautiful gray TL up there. Haven't caught a chance to talk to the owner sadly.

If you’re looking for a place to get tinted at that won’t rip you off with pricing or shitty work. Proven Automotive Concepts on David Drive is my go-to. I’ve had every car I’ve owned tinted by Rory.

However if you have the patient and driving time, drive to Houston and I am gladly donate you (free of charge) my "Replica" Type S lip that I bought from Canada. I bought it as back up originally since everyone want near $1k for the rear Type S lip used but now I own two OEM Type S rear lip as spare lol and that replica just take room in my storage.

Get the front lip while you still can, unless you want to pay $800 for a front lip later. The side are easy to find as any 04-08 Aspec side are interchangeable, the rear could be the pain in the ass to find.

Fr tho I might take you up on that offer. I'm planning a trip
to H-Town within the next few months probably.
Didn't know the sides were interchangeable from 04-06 aspect, that's cool.

Definitely get the front lip while you can, especially since you can still get it in white. Saves the hassle of worrying about painting it. The front looks okay without the sides and rear. But you definitely can’t run the rear without the sides, it’s too aggressive and the type S side skirts don’t flow that well with the rear lip.
I wish I would have pulled the A Spec kit off the car that got abandoned at work and just got them painted. But because it had a base rear I didn’t want to mess with it. But thinking back I should have pulled it off and sold it or traded it for a type S rear.

I'm kinda worried I'm going to get thousands of stone chips on the front lip. I keep hitting random shit on I-10. The other day I hit a piece of rubber and got a nice scratch on the bumper.

Yeah I see that now. I really feel like I still have too much gap at the ground so I'll probably go full on all around now that you posted that pic.

My coils are not all the way down, these were set this way when I opened the box. Just threw them on like this and planned to adjust them but when we lowered the car off the lift and I saw how it sat I decided this was good enough for me.

I've had my lip for almost a year now and honestly I never curbed it or hit anything with it. It was literally scratch free at the bottom until I got my subwoofer hooked up at Mobile1 and the tech that drove my car ran over the parking stop with the front of the car and scratched the underside of my lip. Boy was I mad, but whatever it was bound to happen at some point.

I'm glad to hear the lip is pretty resilient to daily driving, and. I did the same with my coils, just a slight tuck up front.

That looks like that’s right behind the Walgreens on Veterans by Clearview. I work at Acura so I’m literally in that area daily.

So you work at Walker Acura? I've been there several times but the place seems kinda hectic. I pretty much only go to Mike Whatley Honda in Brookhaven, MS, smaller town and less people wanting work done, ECT.
