closing down a business/proprietorship

I hate lawyers. mine had to go on an unexpected 'leave' for a month during the time he was helping me and my dad close down a business. I know a lot of the population here is well versed in many areas and I'll need to pick your brains.

This business is a sole proprietorship in my dad's name for 20+ years in the state of NJ. due to recent changes to the rent [doubling] we will have to either move or closed down. My father's 68 and i'm 24 [yes i know] and the business is a retail operation with gold and silver jewelry. The market for gold/silver isn't hot as far as retailers trying to make a buck, nor will it be easy to setup shop in a new location and start fresh.

Besides notifying the state that the business will be closed down as of a certain date [ Form REG-C-L for the State of NJ ] , closing all business accounts, and changing addresses/mail forwarding. What am I missing?
