I need to know, if what I'm experiencing is the "feature" of the new TL or an aberation in my car that needs to be fixed.
I had a 2003 TL-S and 2000 TL before the new 04 TL. In both previous cars, when I kept the internal temperature at 70-72 in the winter, I could not hear the fan after the initial warm-up period.
In the new TL, I find that the climate control system is several times louder than the old TL's at the same temperature setting. First of all, the fan appears to run at a higher level by default (usually level 3). Second, even at the same fan level, the amount of noise from the system is a lot higher.
It's not that the fan seems louder, it's like they made the air outlets a lot smaller, so the escaping air is making a lot more noise. I've tried to play with modes (bi-livel instead of default) and fan speeds, but the result is that I get cold, when the system is as quiet as I want it to be.
Anyone else notice this? Or do I need to take the car to the dealer? It is really annoying since the noise interfers with my enjoyment of the wonderful stereo.
By the way, is the default heating mode (when the system is in Auto) "Floor/Windshield"? Or is it just "Floor"?
