i have never seen anyone replace the amber strip with a clear, they just remove the amber and it gives you the "euro clear" look.

i don't think you need a clear strip. Members here have either painted the amber black to achive blacked out lights of just taken out the amber and left the reflector in the back showing.

this picture below is completely clear & it looks too empty for me - its not what i want

i think that you are confused......those first two pics are cleared headlamps with the amber reflector removed. the bottom one is "blacked out" and what they did was tint or spray the stock amber reflectors black.

Yep. Clearing the lights usually is just pulling out the amber reflectors which leaves just the chrome portion open. You will be fine.

^ I haven't heard any. I might not agree with what happened, or his own actions, but his work has been great on my own car.

I can only speak on my own experiences.

Hey johnAboy, have you found a place in Chi to get them done? I was thinking of undertaking this project myself unless I can find somebody to do them cheap.

yeah, that's the same reason i'd want to get it done by someone that knows how to do it instead of me just trying to wing it. lol.

i think $200 is fairly reasonable...$150 is a pretty decent price (in my opinion at least, since i haven't seen too many TL's in chicago with cleared headlights)

but yeah...definitely let me know how it goes after the wash 'cause that fogging is my biggest fear about doing it too. thanks, again

definitely keep me posted and let me know how it went if you decide to do it yourself though...i'll let you know if i hear of a place that does it, too

No, I don't know of any places off the top of my head. I'll try calling around a bit, and if I don't find anybody I've got a couple of gearhead buddies who will give me a hand.

Actually they just removed the amber piece completely in both situations
The first two arent painted black, the last one is

No, he said
"the bottom one is "blacked out" and what they did was tint or spray the stock amber reflectors black"

There is no spraying or painting any amber reflector. Its just taken out completely

yeah sorry i just deleted my post, b/c i realized what you meant. At 1st i thought you meant that they removed them in both the 1st 2 pics etc. etc.

Yeah what Xtin said. They removed the amber reflector in all 3 pics. However, in the 3rd pic they removed the amber THEN spray painted the silver reflective part.
