Thumbs up Clear Lense 3G Headlights from Ebay! Reviewed & Installed!

Alright as many of you know I ordered a set of these last week and they arrived today. Of course I couldn't wait and had to install them. They are actually DEPO lights but the quality seems to be pheonomenal. I carefully inspected the seal between the lense and the housing and I am not expecting any condensation/leaks whatsoever. With that being said, on to the pictures!

Show us some cutoff pics when you get a chance. I'd be interested to see how they compare to the stock projectors.

They look pretty nice from what I can see.

I'll snap some cut off pictures tonight! The projector is great, seems almost like it is the ZKW lense although I could be wrong. I paid $550 shipped.

please take some pics from about 10feet away? Would love to see how it changes the car as a whole.

If it was a bit smoked, it'd be clean!

What turn signal bulbs are you using? They look good, but would look better with a V2 blackout and Type1 switchbacks!!

Looks like the OEM clear turn signal bulbs which glow in a brownish yellow.

Switchbacks, sylvania silver star or even chrome coated bulbs are definitely needed!

They do look good.
those lights with blacked out V2 would look so good
I got a responce from ebay's fishcake321 about the clear diffusers
They said, "so far, diffusers alone are not available"

NOBODY sells the clear diffusers.
This is a viable option, but dang...if you have the $550 to spend you can pick up a used set of OEMs and clear yourself IMO.

NOT knocking the OP at all...it looks great and the light output is great on the turn/park bulb which mine is not during the day.

Here is another option for those interested, a little DIY I put together last week.

PS...I hope you don't feel threadjacked, def. not my intent. I just find that a lot of these threads get lost and when new people search it makes it easier to create a web of links/info for all the options out there.

J.

Again, I think they look great.

Rockstar, I actually read your DIY when you first posted and I love the idea I'm gonna pull my old set apart and paint the diffuser a different color other than black, just kind of experiment with them. That is if I don't decide to sale them lol I couldn't find a used a set that were in the shape I wanted them to be in. The only used ones I could find were around $250 per side I'm still using the stock clear signal bulb and it'll do for now, I'm not sure how I like the brightness of the switchbacks. I blacked out my OEM lights and I must say, I like the chrome a lot more lol I won't be pulling these apart. It is definitely NOT the stock projector, not sure if it's a ZKWr replica or what. I am 100% satisfied with buying these lights. I had been contemplating it since the beginning of April. Here are more pictures! I'll snap more on Thursday, once I get the car cleaned up

Pictures are shown with 8000K bulbs.

Well I'm honored. And glad you didn't take my suggestions badly. Your lights look great, no doubt. I actually had a set of cleared lights but sold them (doh!). I liked how they looked, but not the fact that you could see the chrome on the sides and the fact that the bulb was exposed.

I think especially since you are cleared and have a clear diffuser, the switchbacks will loook good on your car. If not, a MUCH cheaper option is getting a bulb that lights up amber. I think that would be great...when off, it looks modded, when on it's amber. Like mine! lol.

Anyway, great buy. I'm no cutoff expert...looks clean to me but I'm sure others can chime in on whether or not that's a good cutoff. lol.

Take care,
J.

Baha yes sir rockstar. I think the chrome gives me a better contrast as oppose to the way my old ones were.. Who knows I'll probably end up pulling these apart before too long I wish I could find somewhere local to buy amber signal bulbs, I hate waiting for shit to come in the mail lol

patience, is a virtue.
One I don't possess.
Actually, as I get older I appreciate the anticipation as much as the actual gift. Like Christmas when I get home! Instant gratification FTML. It's over too quick.

Good luck!
I dont' think the lights were my problem. It's my neverending need to change things. Although the clear set I bought had a crack inside that kind of annoyed me initially, and the chrome on the sides reminded me of the euro corners they used to sell for my old 97 accord. Never was a fan and it just reminded me too much of it on the clears I had.
You have the clear diffuser so you don't have that problem. It looks really good man, congrats.
I personally didnt' like the switchbacks on mine because behind my VHT diffuser it lit up greenish yellow. NOT led white. On yours it would look nice.

THAT AND VLEDS ships fast. Paid Monday night and received on Wednesday noon.

Agreed---switchbacks would shine clear and bright with these clear diffusers.
Lights look great and its good to know they are quality made, too.

Haha yeah I myself, am never satisfied LOL I'm on the never ending quest to keep changing everything. I think I may order some amber LED's to go inside, I just can't grow a liking for the bright white light coming out from behind the diffuser. I want the focus to be more on the HID's themself, and ontop of the switchbacks; it seems I've heard more negative than positive things about them. What did you do with our switchbacks rockstar?

Any of the cutoff experts have anything to say about this cut off? Seems liek the driver side droops down at an angle, isn't the cut off usually horizontal to the horizon?

I am also interested in opinions on the cut-off. They came angled down a little low, I'm guessing to be mostly used for city driving. I may adjust them up a little, since I do mostly highway driving.

Yes, cutoff's are usually horizontal with some sort of step down in the middle so you don't blind oncoming traffic. The cutoffs on these lenses seems sharper than the stock projectors, but they don't look horizontal.

After looking at it again, they kinda look like halogen lenses.

If you look down in that blacked out thread I had made, i had posted the ZKW cutoff and Roger555 posted his newer 2006 stock cut offs. Just for comparison.

I actually am going to sell them to dwb993 at the end of the week. Rather than take a hit on restocking fee, I passed it along to him as a savings.

I'm all for the amber LEDs. That might look good, but behind a relfector I wonder if it even matters since all you see is the light emitting. I'm looking at the Polarg bulbs...supposedly higher intensity filament bulbs. It'd be great if I could get a bit brigher to see the turn signals during the day. lol.

Believe it or not, aside from the color being ugly yellow green. I showed my gf the switchbacks and she def. didn't dig it. Then again, she didn't notice when I lowered my car either.

IIRC, 04-06's are angled and 07-08's a vertical. I might have that backwards.....I think mine are angled.

yea mine are angled. I was wondering if Erik's ZKW's somehow made it into my headlights at the install day we had. I know Kevin said one of his lights has an angled step and the other is vertical. My cutoff also seems sharper, but I think thats just because there is no more condensation on my lenses.

LMAO Rockstar, this sounds exactly like my girlfriend, to the tee! I've just given up on telling her the next thing I'm doing to my car and hope she notices lol Everytime I tell her a future "mod" she says Oh God lol And I think my only option for a getting a 7443 bulb in amber; is through buying an LED. I've looked everywhere and searched all parts stores trying to crossover the bulb numbers and nothing.
