Chips and gap on stock side skirt seam
Hi Guys,
Well, I am only 2 days away from getting my baby. I went down to the dealer's lot today and saw that some of the white TLs had paint chips at the back edge of the OEM side skirt (front piece on driver's side) where the 2 pieces are joined right below the doors. On top of that, the seam gap between these 2 pieces varies from nothing to over 1/4 inch! What happened to quality control here? The chip looks like someone either dropped the piece prior to installing it or just jammed the 2 pieces together too hard and took paint off. The good thing is that it's plastic and can be fixed with touch up paint and won't rust. And if you are getting the bodykit, it gets replaced anyway. Any TLers have these issues? Would you have issues with the dealer touching up a chip along the side skirt borders?
Thanks, dsc888

There are tons of paint flaws in my Satin Silver TL ... there are more paint flaws in this 2004, than my 2002 TL-S ...
My bodykit that I've installed has gaps in it too ... Acura has never been known for high quality paint when it comes to the TL/CL ... I wonder how the TSX/RSX and RL and Legend were/are in terms of paint quality.
I know the RL goes thru a 5-step paint process, whereas the TL goes thru a 3-step process.

Thanks for the info, PeterUbers. I will be getting my bodykit from next week so I guess this will help me feel prepared. I guess this is how the price on the TL is kept so low. I will have to admit that the paint on my girlfriend's G35 looks better and she has had only 1 minor chip on the hood after a years driving. Did you install the bodykit yourself?
