Chicago TL - critique this price for us?
Great board guys, very informational and nicely laid out.
We are looking at the following:
05 TL
AM
Ebony interior
!Navi
6MT
Regular tires
Now a friend got a similar earlier this year for $31,250 from McGrath Acura in Westmont.
I am looking at an 05 which has a base price increase of $300.
So is $31,500 - 32,000 a reasonable range for the car?
Also most Chicago area dealers are trying tack on a package that includes locking lugs, winter floor mats, and splash guards for anywhere from $350 to 400. How have you deal with that?
Thanks for any advice, we are going to the dealer on Friday to hopefully close a deal.

do what I did (mind you it was the truth, but it should work even if it isnt) tell them that another dealer, is giving you this price, and see what they say.... a dealer was giving me a NBP/Ebony/6MT/Navi/HPT for 33,900, the dealer I bought from had AM/Ebony/6MT/Navi but no HPT, so I told them to deduct the price of HPT, they did, and they tried to nail me on the protection package, I simply said the other dealer included it in the price, they accepted it and sold me the car
as you can tell, you can get an 05 for even cheaper now, as a recent chicago member got his for 33,500...
if you don't want navi, which maybe why you said !Navi (as in not, I am a geek as well ) then 31,500 is realistic

On the board that I own (www.ls1tech.com) it's a long time tradition to use '!' as a way to denote the lack of something. Pretty typical on GM and Ford boards like www.camaroz28.com and www.corral.net.
I just had a very good conversation with another IL dealer and he confirmed that +/-$31,700 is a decent price for the car mentioned above.
The local dealers are calling it the protection package. Muller has it for $350, Mcgrath for $400, and Libertyville for $440. Sounds like if you push them they will deal on it.
So far I found two dealers with AM/ebony/6mt/!navi/05 tl so it sounds like we can work them against each other a bit.
If I get one I will have to dyno it of course.
My formula did 746rwhp earlier this year. I bet the TL is like 225fwhp anyone know?

I am sure the pricing varies a great deal from state to state. However, I would not pay the dealer for the price of the "Pro Package". There is a dealership in New York (www.curryacura.com) call their parts dept. and talk to Joe or John. My local dealer will not even match their prices on accessories. I am in Oklahoma City and will buy all accessories from them. They are great to deal with!!
Good luck on your purchase. I have had my '04 Nav for about a week and love it. The only problem is that I can not find enough excuses to take it out and drive it more.

Just two weeks ago I bought an 05 Silver/Quartz/Auto/Navi with mud guards for 33,700 +Tax,Title,&License from Continental Acura of Naperville. You will also save on taxes at Naperville versus any other Chicago area dealer -- unless you live in downtown, in which case I think you pay downtown's rate regardless. That can add up to several hundred dollars.
31,700 sounds fair.

We live in Lincoln Park so I am subject to 8.75% tax I believe.
We are still torturing ourselves over Navi or !Navi, to be honest we don't know how it works. Acura Libertville's guy is very nice and if we want AM/Navi they have a 6MT in stock.

I've never owned a car with navi before my TL. I'm starting to feel like it's a must have option, especially with how well it works in this car. The voice commands work very well IMO.

I really enjoy my Navi.
I'm from Mpls, MN, and flew to Chicago to buy my car blue/quart/navi. I negotiated the price $32976 including splash guards and all season floor mats in July, and picked it up in Sept. I bought it from Ed Napleton. It could have gone a little smoother, but I got the car and I'll never see them again.
If you have the cash go for the navi, but although it is really nice, the car is still great without it.

Thanks guys.
We did some more research and have decided to get one with Navi.
We have all our $$$ lined up and I sold my Tahoe today so we are going tomorrow to the Acura dealer in Palatine on Dundee (I typed Libertyville that was a typo).
We want gray but we also suprisingly like black. We saw one of each tonite when we were getting costumes and the black one looked awesome. But after my 98 Camaro SS I said I would never get black again... we'll see..
I'll try for 33,200 but we are we'll see! Wish us luck!
I will tint next week too!
