Cherokee SRT8

How do you guys think the 2004 TL will hold up against a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8

you will get absolutely destroyed. they have 425HP man. a 5.7L Hemi Cherokee would be a good matchup for a 3G, but the SRT8 is far too powerful, shit tons of low end torque in those.

I had seen specs that it was a sub 5.0 sec 0-60 vehicle. I think this was from C&D. That's scary fast for something that big.

It runs twelves, there aren't any TLs on the planet that can do that, with the exception of Cocoa's, maybe.

Grand Cherokee SRT is 6.1L Hemi, not 5.7L. That thing is as fast as Cayanne Turbo. Not a chance for TL.

Here is a video of a stock TL that ran against a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8. Just watch the results. The first race is against this black SRT8 Cherokee.

Its funny that this thread is up.

About three weeks ago, I was heading down 64 from richmond to va beach. I see an SRT in the left lane in front of me. Im travelling about 75 and hes doing about 65 so I'm slowly passing him.

When I get beside him, I slow down do check out the ride (and the hot chick in the passengers seat). I get my looks in and start to speed up.

He thinks im trying to race so he speeds up, keeps hitting the gas making his car jump. He had this huge grin on his face.

I give him the thumbs up and the "wave off" as if to say...." RU crazy, I know what that thing can do". He smiles, gives me the thumbs up and guns it.

That think sounded CRAZY as he took off.

BTW.....I know a real estate agent who had one for all of 4 months. He traded it in due to about 12 MPG!!!!!!

I saw one on I287 (NJ) trying to toy with a modded STi in the Pompton Lakes area. Surprisingly, the STi guy did NOT bite. That said, every Jeep SRT8 I have observed thus far on the road have been speeding bigtime. (Kind of makes me with my Murano was the GT-C version.)

Back on topic, the Jeep SRT8 will make short work of an 04 TL.

My business partner owns one, and you will get absolutely destroyed for sure. I have a S/C'd TL and we actually ran against each other. Even with a S/C'd TL, I still lost pretty bad.

Ask your buddy if he recalls rolling up hard on 287 in that location and then pulling alongside and speed matching a modded STi. If so, tell him I was driving the dark red Murano (left lane) that he passed immediately before he reached the STi (middle lane).

Sidenote: I considered taking a shot at him if it were not for: A) laser speed traps w/Nazi cops in the area, B) wife riding shotgun and C) Murano being WAYYYY slower than an SRT8 (although I did run a CTS-V "pretty hard" @ 120mph on I-75 with Murano fully loaded).

He's got a completely stripped TL with a 6spd, a J35 motor, a 125 shot of nitrous, and a couple of other mods.

That mod might keep up with the SRT8 but keep in mind the SRT8 is no joke. I'd give it a shot and see what happens

I spoke with him around lunch time. He said he ran so many people on 287 he doesn't recall most of it He did however, ran agaist a few STi so he said that very well be him

That would be a fun race from a dig. If you're serious, that's pretty cool how your pop runs with you.

I observe an E60 M5 race a Charger SRT8 at Etown two weeks ago and while the M5 did driver did not launch well at all (and the SRT8 did), he was still able to catch and pass the SRT8 before the traps. (The M5 ET'd at 13.2 sec vs the SRT8's 13.6 sec and the M5 was ~4mph faster at the traps)

Seeing as the Charger SRT8 s/b a bit quicker than the Jeep version and the M6 is a hair quicker/faster than the M5, my $$ is on the M6.

SRT8s are sweet but nothing that the M5/M6 cannot dispatch with in short order.

There is a turbo version of the SRT-8 Jeep, I forget who makes the mod, but you can get it installed for around $8,000. It gives you roughly 700bhp I think or something like that, C&D did an article on the car.

The Cherokee SRT8 isn't that fast. You guys talking like this car is as fast as an Enzo Ferrari or Koenigsegg CCX-R or Bugatti Veyron 16.4. You, all of you guys are nuts.......

The 6MT TL is only a tad slower than the Cherokee SRT8. I don't see a 13.6 sec vs. 14.0 sec that much different in the quarter mile. That is not called "destroy". The word destroying is used when you are competing a TL with a Bugatti Veyron. I'm so sick of exaggerations people here make.

This is what happens if you try to run against a SRT8

I have both an '05 Murano SE and an '05 CTS-V. The only way my Murano would run 'pretty hard' against the V is if the V driver left the gearbox in 6th and forgot which pedal on the floor was for 'GO'. Don't get me wrong, the Murano is a great SUV and I think it is underestimated by many, but it's no match for the V.

From a roll, the CTS-V will pull on all of the SRT8's...especially the Jeep. They are the lowest trapping version of the SRT8's. From a stop, it'll take a full 1/4 mile to catch it as they will literally snap your neck with acceleration from a standstill. But after the V has caught it, it's BUH-BYE. So if you're willing to challenge a CTS-V from a roll then you should also take a stab at the SRT8.

Trust me, I am well aware of the CTS-V's 170 mph topend (versus the Murano's 124mph)...which means the fun is just beginning for the V at 120mph. What I implied was the surprised expression on the V drivers face with my Mo up on him at 115mph+.

Funny this would come up... I own a 2006 Cherokee SRT-8 and you are right, a 04 TL would get destroyed. The Cherokee is stupid fast and hooks up off the line. You mash the pedal, the jeep TAKES OFF!!!! The engine is a 6.1L Hemi and with the all wheel drive, there is no tire break off the line. 0-60 is around 4.7 seconds

BTW - I just bought the 07 TL type S as my everyday car, just to keep the milage off the SRT
