Nissan are cheap cars, and cheap interiors follow.
The only thing good about a Nissan is the Engine IMO IMO IMO

I definately prefer 4 doors for my daily driver. I didn't mind letting people in and out of the old coupe in the old days but the older I get, the more things bother me. My other car is a two door but the rear seats are immaculate and there were only 200 or so sets of my interior ever made so with a one time exception, no one has ever sat in the back. The big doors are a pain in tight parking spots and like most American cars of the 80s they're heavy and hard to close.

I guess the recommendation depends on what you want for your kid. The more popular ones have 4-door cars where it is easier for 4 or five to get in and out easily. My brother has a 17 year old and she says that their group would MUCH rather ride in an older 4-door rather than a newer 2-door. So, if you want you child to be less popular, get him/her the 2-door. One benefit to the 2-door is that there are fewer distractions with fewer people in the car. One GOOD rule of thumb is to restrict them from carrying more than one other person. There are a LOT of statistics that show that many wrecks from teenagers are due PRIMARILY from distractions from INSIDE the car (other people talking, etc).

My boy is 11 now but I do plan on keeping (and handing down) the TL to him when it's his time to get a car. It will have been well paid off by then and I will have known how the car was maintained for it's ENTIRE life. My wife is concerned because she see's it as possibly having too much power but she also realizes that it's one of the safest cars out there (side and front Airbags, etc). Hopefully, the TL will still be considered a "cool" car by then.

PS - I had a 1972 Cutlass 442 in the late 70's myself
