This car is starting to be a pain...
I don't even know where to begin. I am tired of the constant problems in this car. To date my repairs have been:
Part of my frustration is taking it to the dealer to have the problem assessed, just to have to bring it back again after the parts come in. I truly like this car, but I'm just wondering what's next, especially since the warranty expires in the next 5,000 miles. Been looking for a replacement, but as you all know, this is a tough car to replace, especially since it is a 6MT.
Just had to vent!
- New Navi
- Motor Mounts
- Clutch Master Cylinder
- Heater mixing valve
- Both axles
- Power steering pump
- constant rattles
- Front Hood Lifts
- Other things I can't remember at the moment

^^ Agreed..
I can see the motor mounts needing to be replaced; based on mileage and road conditions..rattles based on mileage and car condition. Axles would most likely fall into that category as well.
Things like navi and power steering pump would be the only questionable things on that list to me

Ally, sorry to hear about all these problems. It's a lot to deal with. I hope it all works out well. The rattles are notorious for this car, but a lot of the other things on your list are suspect-even on an '05.

wow.. so much things done on a warrantied car. If it was me.. I'd trade it in. What triggers me was your driving habit.. with the motor mounts already needing replaced, who else drives this car? I can tell this car was driven pretty harsh if the slave cylinder and both the axels needed to be replaced. Or maybe it's just the road conditions.. hmm, but I'd sell the car. Once the warranty expires.. it'll be too much money owning it. A good next vehicle are them Infinitie RWD or AWD would be good.

I know as mileage increases, things will begin to fail, and at close to 90,000 miles, items will surely need replacing. Many of these problems occurred well before I even hit 70,000 miles. It just appears that it is always in the shop.
I had an Accord EX 5 spd coupe that was bulletproof. At the 8-year mark, I had just changed the battery and a headlight bulb. I had that car for 168,000 miles.
I guess I need to look at it as I should be good for some time since I am replacing some major parts.
I forgot to add that I had both front window motors replaced and both rear view mirror actuators replaced as well. It is in the shop now for the motor mounts.

Not driven hard at all. I do get on it every now and then, but not to the extent that you may be inferring. I have been traveling on some rough roads lately though.
ohsixMTee - To be honest, if I had the time, I would probably do more DIY. However with work and kids, time is tough. Axles would be out of my comfort zone even if I had the time.
A friend is trying to get me to get a used Type-S. Same car, which could result in the same problems or worse.

im just at around 77k and my motor mounts are starting to go and my hood struts dont hold up as much now (starts to sink down if held up too long).
yours seem to have much more than the typical milage-related issues.

my axles went south at 42k mi. replaced both at 50kmi last fall. currently at almost 56k mi. i dont' drive my car hard and i avoid rough roads if at all possible. even my dealer was perplexed.
i don't want to even think of the other things that could be possible. so far so good and i wanna keep it that way!

Of your list, the only one of those issues I've had is "constant rattles". I'm at 160k on my '04. The car has been very good to me. I recently got into my first accident with the car and it's in the shop now so I'm driving a Chrystler Sebring with 20k miles on it. This Chrysler feels about 20 times older than my car even though miles has 8 times as many miles. I'm would MUCH rather be driving my 160k mile car. I'm honestly amazed at how anyone could possibly pay $20k for a car this low on the quality scale. I'm pretty sure this car is the worst car that twenty thousand dollars can possibly buy.

I have to fight the urge to get a new car as our cars are getting old. I really really want a Boss 302. Eh, I'll probably just drive my car until it dies.

Cars life expectency is dependant on and can be mostly traced back to:
1. Owners upkeep of regular and scheduled Maintainance
2. Type of Driving/Driver
3. Road conditions Car was subjected to/Geographical Location
4. Aftermarket modification/Non OEM parts
Mileage is subjective. You can have a TL with 150k+ miles if it was only used to take trips on highways with minimal wear and tear, vs. a TL that was used for 20k miles as a NYC taxi cab (hypothetical) showing more wear and driving like crap.
This is why the mileage that is indicated in your owners manual for regular maintainance is just a guide and not an absolute that I follow. I use my judgement as I live in NY and have to be more pro-active about my maintanance.
Most People who state their cars are still a dream at higher mileage can all be traced back to geographical location that is less harsh on their vehicles vs. guys in the Northern regions where the cars have been subjected to more extremes.

^^^ I completely agree....
I have an 05 TL and havent replaced a single thing on my car.... *touch/hug/kiss wood* (no homo).....I have 156K miles on my car and she has been nothing but spectacular....
the only problems I faced were:
1> Bulbs going out....bound to happen....another reason to LED the shizzz out.....
Other than that I have only spend money on wear and tear items....brakes/tires/fluid's/etc....

Hood lifts are around $40-$50 each at Acura OEM Parts. Acura Warranty only covers 1 lift....Seriously!

Yeah, I agree. Been taking different routes with better roads to get where I need to go. Philly and NY roads are similar.
I'm going to try another dealer to service my car. Even after the new motor mounts, I still hear this noise under the front/driver area of the car that sounds like something is loose/banging when I'm at low speeds (10-20 mph).

I didn't check. They replaced one under warranty. Here are prices for an '05 from Acura Automotive Parts. I gave you the dealer price earlier. I apologize. This is for a 2005.
