Car lease is up in February, need some opinions on what to do.
So my lease will be up in February, and I'm torn about what to do.
Here are my options:
1. Buy out the car, part it out, and sell it for profit. My payoff is $21,000 + any taxes/fees. This was determined by me driving 10k miles a year. So far, the car only has 22,000 miles and won't have much more by February. I've seen 08 low-mileage Type S's recently selling in the high 20's so this seems like a good idea to me.
Is $21,000 worth it to buy? Is there any way to negotiate?
2. Part out the car, return it to the dealer, and buy an S2000, or any other 6-speed sports car under ~$25k.
3. Trade in the car for a 6MT Type-S. This option is pretty tempting. My car is already pretty quick, about on par with a 5AT G37...having a 6-speed with even more mods would be a whole new story.
I really love this car. It was my first car that I actually modified and took care of. I'd even say that it has become a part of my identity...
So what would you guys do here?

OH!!! I remember that pic from the meet you guys did.
Didn't realize that was you/your car.
Keep it. Why get a 6speed? The TL is not a fast car. It's luxury.
You have a lot of mods and I'm not sure how to explain it... but I love the feeling of that my TL is MY car.

#1, without hesitation. All things aside, it's the most economically viable option. At the end of the day, it's just a car...so go with the most logical choice that will keep the bills low.

Personally, with all that you've invested and how nice your TL-S looks, I would just keep it. ![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
I can't speak for whatever other 6-spd sports cars you have in mind but as an owner of an S2K, I can say with confidence that if you plan on using that as a daily driver, the novely will wear out fast. It's like driving a mini-F1 car everyday. It's great, but only if you have another car as a daily. When I get back in my S2K after a long time away, I always get a kick out of VTEC screaming at 9000rpm but by the end of the day I can't wait to get back in my TL-S and just be able to cruise with some more space and luxury plus I can have my kids and wife along with me too!
This wouldn't apply if you get the G37 obviously as that's more of a luxury sports coupe rather than a raw, bare-bones roadster like the S2K.
Good luck with your choice!

#1. You've already made it "your own" by modding it, get your moneys worth and keep it. Plus $21k for a TL-S with 22k miles is a no-brainer ![2 Cents](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/2cents.gif)
I'm a huge S2k fan but I can't imagine not having back seats in my DD.

lol I'm pretty sure you're not on par with a 5AT G37.. maybe just keep up from roll and straight line.. anyway that's a crazy amount of mods for a lease man. Ultimately, it's whatever is more economically viable for your current lifestyle.

Option 3: Most, if not all of the mods you have are interchangeable with a 6MT TL-S, and it sounds like you would prefer the MT over auto. Look hard enough and you can find a suitable car for your budget.

Unless you have a garage and work in a very good area with security, don't bother with the S2k. That car is a magnet for theives. I bought my S2k and someone stole my seats with other OEM parts after 3 months of ownership from my parking lot thats lit up at night in a retirement type community. The insurance paid me off for the s2k so I bought the TL.
The s2k is an awesome fun high revving car but its joy is also a pain in the @ss. Car is very loud (average RPM +5000) compare to the TL (<3,000RPM) in the city. Also the S2k was a cop magnet.

$21K is worth buying. You can also negotiate the buyout price too. Dont forget you dont have to pay state tax again (if you live in state with sale tax of course)

I'm just curious, how come you don't have this option in your list?
4. Buy out the car and keep it as is with all your mods.
Seems that if you love the car, why not just hang on to it? I'm thinking perhaps you can't afford the payoff, but isn't there a way to get a loan for the payoff?

#1. And buy a car other than another 3G TL. While the 3G Type-S is awesome, you'll grow tired of driving another TL. Or at least I would.
Go for a G37. I personally have always had a thing for Audi A6's. A newer used A6 4.2 can be had for a price in the high 20Ks. Badass cars too.

That's a beautiful car, and if it's part of you're identity, then try to hold on to it. But if you're really hankering for the the manual, the go with the 6MT. gorgeous cars, and you can keep the same look and feel of something you're already so proud of.
best of Luck.
