Car alarm recommendations please

I was considering getting an aftermarket car alarm for my '04 TL. I very much like the 'built-in' functions of the keyfob (driver identification, windows down, trunk release, interior dome light on, etc.). I would like an alarm that would allow me to use all of those built-in functions AND activate the alarm via ONE keyfob.

If I can avoid it, I would prefer to NOT add the above features as a second, independent feature of the alarm system... the built-in ones are fine for me.

Any input / suggestions? Anyone tried this/done this?

Thanks,

Garrett

What you are looking for is a Hornet 700T by Directed Electronics the maker of Viper alarms. This piggybacks on your Acura keyless entry system. It will give you starter kill, point of entry protection and a two stage shock sensor. Consider adding a 507T digital tilt sensor and a 1020GPS tracking system. All this and it works with the factory key fobs.

I think you should go w/ the SS agents.. they can detain the person trying to get into your car.. the other alarm can't.

There was a nice alarm in Robocop 2 or 3 where the thief is being electrocuted...

...at least, your car doesn't blow up!

I like the Viper Responder but the "remote" is this huge cellular phone looking thing. Does alot, but hate that huge thing being tied to your hip. The GPS, tilt sensor, shock sensors all sound like good ideas. Viper is made by Directed also.

It does, but I'm looking for extra stuff... the last Viper alarm system I had installed was a rotating code model with a european harness and a battery-backup siren. Only real way to take it was to tow it, and you couldn't shut the alarm off even if you cut or bypass all the wires in the car. More is better

please keep us posted if you found any good alarms. I am also planning to install extra alarm in my TL. One for each Door, one for trunk and one for Gas door. I don't mind to carry totally of 6 remotes !

So, does anyone else have any personal experience with aftermarket alarms?

And would you trust those local roadside "CAR ALARMS INSTALLED" and "CAR STEREO SYSTEMS INSTALLED" stores?

(any suggested trustworthy places in central jersey?)
