Well, I don't even know where to begin with your statement, but I'll give it a shot...
The Accord, Civic, and Element are built on the same line at the East Liberty Plant in Ohio, the Odyssey and Pilot are built on the same lines at Alabama, the S2000 and Fit are built in the same plant in Japan, and the Civic SI and CRV are built on the same line in England.
By your "logic" these sets vehicles are each basically the same simply because they are built in the same plant. You are clearly not very educated in the modern manufacture of automobiles. The days of "one platform = one plant" thinking have been gone for 20 years. Even GM, Ford and Daimler-Chrysler have had to embrace flexible manufacturing.
I cannot give you access to the drawings for each model, but if you could see them, you would know there are more differences than similarities between the current Accord and TL.
An easier comparison you can do, if indeed you even own a TL, is to park it next to an Accord and look around both cars. Open the hood, look underneath, check out the suspensions, look anywhere you like, and then you tell me how much similarity you see.
By the way, double click on my avatar and YOU figure out for yourself HOW I might know what I am talking about.

That said, I swore I'd never buy again from my selling dealer (Vandergriff Acura) once I got a taste of the excellent service at Goodson Acura.

That's the spirit, dump the dealer, not the make. This is the only way dealers will be forced to improve. It's a dog eat dog world out there and if the dealership is loosing business because of customer treatment, they will either fix it they will cease to be profitable. It's just unfortunate this idea is not practical for all people due to the location of local, or not so local, dealerships.

You know what. I had a couple of really bad experiences with the Acura dealer too. They are real idiots and do not know how to have a 1st class customer experience. Lexus always ranks #1 in customer satisfaction in sales experience. Acura has it all wrong. I mean.. Most of us already are going to buy the car, and they can be so slimy they talk you out of buying the car, and they are attempting to talk you into a car you already want.

Acura and particularly this dealer have a lot to learn from "luxury car" dealers like Lexus, etc. Drove to my local Lexus dealer and was handed the keys to an ES without asking for my license or the salesman tagging along. This will be our third car from the local Lexus dealership and as always the experience was a pleasure. While I admit that the ES does not compete with the TL in terms of toys and sportiness, it does offer more luxury. That combined with the buying experience, future service and dependability of the brand make the ES a no-brainer for me. For those of you wanting to know why I did not choose the 3 Series, A4, or G35, I looked but all three cars are a bit too small for me ( I'm a big guy . Anyway, enjoy the TL - its a great car - I'll be back if Acura changes how it deals with customers.

When I bought my first gen TL used last year from Westside Acura, I had an AMAZING dealership experience. I go there for service regularly, and they even did things for free like replacing the D4 light in the dash. They gave my brother a new key for free for his 1.7 EL (2001), and those keys aren't cheap. I will keep returning there. The new Lexus dealership in Edmonton was nice too. They treated me and my dad well, and even asked if we were looking for a car for me or for a family vehicle. They seemed busy though. Oh, the only thing I didn't like about Westside was the sales manager. The salesman was great, he lets me look at and drive all the cars I was interested in (even the new car salesman let me and the bf take a TSX out for an hour!!). But when it came to actually buying my used TL, the stupid sales manager was all high pressure. I told him that I'm buying from the salesman, not from him. One time I had to take my car to Southview Acura across town, and they were great squeezing me in when they were busy for a foglight bulb replacement. They replaced my highmount brake bulb and wiper blades inserts for free too, and washed it.
On the other hand, when I went to look at used Infinitis, I was treated like garbage. I was like "I'm only looking at a used, $12k car and you think I can't afford it? I won't be back here."

Well the car is not the honda of the past and neither is the service. The service is a result of product quality. If the problem cannot be fixed, then customer service looks likes its in the crapper. Acura is not a luxury product. Maybe the RL but they do not sell that many of those. Maybe it is time to create another tier of delearship where they just sell and service well made cars in the luxury category. And, I do not mean a body kit and suspension that addes 6K to the car.
Whatever happened to precision crafted performance... seems like it is tossed out the window... They do not dare to use that slogan anymore.

After reading this thread, I am baffled by the fact that acura dealers are not as professional as Lexus'. If anyone ever visited Japan, they could tell you that almost all business are professional towards customers. Granted that everything is expensive, but you'll feel that "money well spend". I can see that Lexus dealers employed the same philosophy toward their customers, showing courtesy, respect and appreciation. Being a japanese brand, Acura dealers are different story. Sure, Acura's cars are nicely built and priced fairly, even a steal compared with other brand. However, if you look at sales record for luxury cars, Lexus, BMW, and MB frequently tops Acura, eventhough their prices are much higher. Bottom line, I wish Acura would keep that trait of japanese business ethic of courtesy and service.
Just a thought...
ps. and yes, I have visited Japan and ate at "overpriced" restaurants, and they are worth it!

I can tell you that the first Acura Dealership I visited to buy my TL was full of a bunch of arrogant pricks and I made sure they knew that this punk kid with his checkbook walked out because they were cocky assholes. (McGrath Acura)
I then went to another Acura Dealership and have had nothing but great results and a great buying experience. I had a deal together in 30 minutes and more than that they were helpful, honest, and accommodating. They probably made their easiest cash sale in history and they deserved it. (Arlington Acura)
I made sure McGrath knew that I went a few minutes north and bought one with reasonable people, and they certainly have kissed my royal ass since than. It's too bad they missed out because their service center is real close, but I wont give them a penny.

My previous car was a Lexus
I had a Lexus GS300 that I managed to total last year, and I bought an '04 TL 6-MT to replace it. The 2 Lexus dealerships I used were more luxe than my Acura shop, but Lexus service was correspondingly more expensive and the whole experience seemed sort of phony (particularly at the newest Lexus shop). I'm not sure it's worth the difference. There's no comparison with the cars - the GS was cushier and the interior was better built, but it was way less fun to drive. For the price and performance differences, I think the TL is a better deal. This despite my having some of the common quality issues (window frame popping, water leak thru the rear ABS cable grommet).
