Buying an extended warranty - any friendly dealers out there?

When I bought my wife a used Sequoia I knew of a friendly dealer out of state that sold me a 7yr/100k premium warranty for about 700$ The car was 2 years old and had 25k on the odo. I used this guy before on my previous two tundras too.

Does anyone know of a friendly Acura dealer / sales person that will do pretty much the same thing? When I leased my 08 TLS I was offered the warranty at cost and am kicking myself for not taking the deal now that I want to buy the car out.

Thx,
MH

When I purchased my TL; they told me at the date of pickup about the extended warranty. It was an additional $2500 which I hadn't budgeted for. I was told per Acura's "rules" the warranty can only be purchased at the time the transaction was being completed and not after I took delivery of the car. I even saw the text in the contract I signed.

I felt cheated because I wasn't told in advance; so needless to say I emailed the GM of the dealership and received a call two weeks later that they'd like to offer me another opportunity to purchase the warranty.

So there's a chance you may find a dealer who's willing/able to sell you a warranty after the car has been purchased. Good luck; update us!

Curry Acura does offer a good warranty service from AcuraCare; same as what you'd get if you purchased it at the time of car purchase from a dealer.

However, it does state your car must still be within the original factory warranty in order to purchase the extended warranty. Not sure if yours is; but keep us updated. Good luck!

What all did your wannanty entail that it was $2500? I got a full bumper to bumper and powertrain for an additional four years or 100,000 miles for $1200

It was the extended Acura Care warranty. I rounded up; they originally quoted me like $2350. When I was offered it again later, I had done my research and found other dealers charging less than $2000. I "bargained" with them over it and I believe I paid around $1600 total in the end.

Welcome to the forums. What was their "cost" for the warranty? Generally, you cannot purchase an Acura sponsored warranty once its outside the original warranty period. How many miles do you have?

They originally quoted me about 650$ for a 100k warranty. I don't remember how many years that was for. My car right now is a 08 with 33k on the ODO. We leased it in June of 08 so we're within the years and mileage period to extend it. I like the car, the lease buyout is ~19k so its a bargain since I wouldn't be able to find one in the shape its in nor an equivalent car for that much.

When I purchased our '04, the Acura Car Care warranty was $800 and is up April 2011, next month. Haven't needed to use the warranty and actually haven't spent a dime on the car other than normal maintenance, not even brakes.

I've had to use the factory warranty twice in addition to the standard maintenance. Brakes on these cars aren't cheap (tl-s) but I'm not going to whine about it because I knew what I was getting into (had a cts-v prior).

I had an extended warranty...used it once for HFL and now I'm out of warranty mileage. It's not worth it. These cars don't break that often. Even if they do, there's a high chance that warranty won't cover it (wear and tear) or you can fix it for cheaper than what the warranty costs.

Unless of course, you're dealing with a transmission.

My warranty has paid for itself so far; and I'm hoping to get even more out of it before it's up next month.

Countless things to mention (bc I'm sleepy) have been fixed under warranty. Having an issue with the dealership diagnosing a potential tranny issue which I've been fighting with them about for two years. Very frustrating!
