Talking Buying a '05 TL automati - advice ?

Hi, I just sold my '03 TL-S and I'm looking for an '05 TL (cannot find a stick right now...).
Any advice from the members that have owned one ? What should I be afraid of ? Any TRANNY problems ? Other maintenance issues ? I don't have money to burn once I get it. Any input will be greatly appreciated

If you really want a MT, IMHO- wait until you find one.

I have an 05 w/ 55k miles- no tranny issues.

^agreed. It will require much more searching, but trust me, an MT is well worth the wait...

I'm in the same situation so I have a few threads regarding similar circumstances. The obvious would be to follow the usual used car buying procedures; carfax, mechanical inspection, service records, etc. Check the VIN number and see if it was a late or early 05.

In order of grouping above (note added spaces):
19U Honda of America Mfg., Inc. USA, Acura Passenger Vehicle
UA6 Acura TL/J32A3 (model code)
5 for 6 speed, 6 for 5 spd. Automatic (kind of backwards)
2 for A/T, 5 for 6 spd. M/T, 6 for 6 spd. M/T with hi-per tire option
Check digit - there's a formula for this that can be found with a web search. Basically, it's a letter or number calculated based on other VIN letters/numbers. If it's "wrong", it means the VIN is wrong.
Model Year (4 is 2004)
Factory Code (A is Marysville, Ohio)
Serial number (starts with 000001 for USA model, starts with 800001 for Canadian model)

The example code above would be a 6 speed manual without the summer tire option. Check digit wouldn't normally be a *.
I think I read a post by 01tl4tl regarding a change in transmission design midway through 2005 models, or something like that.
