I had a NHBP 6G Accord before my TL and I loved it, but I took really good care of the paint. Claybar, polish & wax every two months, Wax once a month and maintain finish with Meguires Ultimate Quick detailer and clean microfibers.
My car was eleven years old when I sold it and the paint still looked almost brand new.
I takes a lot of work to keep a black car spotless, but I enjoy it and don't look at it as a chore.

see the Off Topic section `Wash and Wax` many threads by diy and pro detailers- product advice good stuff and bad etc
some synthetic car waxes are major dust magnets,,arrgh- looks great but lot of work
you can try a straight carnuba- old school wax
Do the rims with synthetic though- better temp resistance to melting of wax.
cutting down on brake dust helps keep the car clean
If you are using a car wash wax- thats only good till the next rain and the detergents are harsh on the car

yep- I had a black Supra once. Having owned both colors, white is far better in Southern California- cooler temperature wise and doesn't show dust as much and no swirl marks. I found keeping my Supra covered at the office helped a bunch at the time.

God Damn! That gold 6th gen accord coupe in the first picture is money! It looks just like the 3rd gen TL coupe concept. yum. Dude, I wanted a 6th gen AV6 coupe before I got my TL. Now I remember why.

One on the right for me
What year supra? Did it have a spoiler? I have a white one but I'm having a hell of a time finding a reasonably priced cover that will accommodate the spoiler.

Loving my 08 TLS!
I had an NBP 02 TLS once. I never regret getting black because everyone in their lives need to own a black car. But I knew it is a difficult color to keep clean. Now, I have the KBP, it is so much easier to hide the dirt.

I had a NBP Integra GSR and I hated how often I had to clean that car. After the mileage started accumulating scratches and rock chips became very obvious. I told myself after I sold that car I would never buy a black car again.
NBP is sexy when clean, but its high maintanence. I thought about buying a TL in black until I test drove one for 10 mins and when I got back to the dealer it showed dirt dust.Thats why I told myself in the past to never buy black again.
Congrats on your car, its definitely pure sex when its clean, but I feel your pain about dirt.

The last black car I owned was an 87 Taurus. Have had 5 cars since and all except one have been light or neutral colors. Much easier to maintain in a very busy world. But yes, black does look gorgeous when it is clean.

I went from a WDP '98 TL to a SSM '05 TL and couldn't be happier. My wife on the other hand, has an '09 Honda Pilot Touring in Formal Black and it is a huge pain to keep clean. The only way to do it is to constantly wash it (at least weekly, more in the winter) and use a car duster on it every morning. Buying a black vehicle is more than just a purchase, it's really a commitment. If not, it will look like crap.

black is the nicest color of all when its cleaned but it is the worst, next to white to KEEP clean and no matter how much you buff, wax, and keep your cars clean, black shows every little scratch, ding, chip, mark, etc!! I try to get more neutral colors like silver, gray, etc! the darkest I would ever go is slate or maroon!

I had a 1984 with 5-speed and leather. That configuration did not have the wing spoiler. The cover was pretty standard size- may have even been a costco special I don't remember now. That was a nice car in its time- wow a 6cyl with just 165 HP! Now I have a 6cyl 258 HP that is tons faster than that in 4 door configuration!

I would only remorse buying a car that isn't black. But I can sympathize with not getting a color you want. I had a 1G 3.2 TL in dark blue and I never thought it looked as good as any of the black cars I've owned. I'm on my 3rd black car, and I'll never go back to a different color.
