Is this bullshit?

My cd player has been skipping and I was not going to fix it until i brought it in for an oil change so I could just get it fixed all at once. I just called a service guy at Oakland Acura named william and I mentioned that along with the oil change I wanted the cd player fixed and my front window fixed.

I mentioned the symptoms and he asked if I have been playing burned cds. He also told me that they are not recommended and can cause it to break. That sounds like BS to me, Ive played burned cds in many cars and never experienced it breaking.

Can anyone shed some light on this?

William is mistaken. The burned cd's that they recomend not to play are the ones with paper labels. The heat inside the cd player melts the glue holding the label on and the paper gets stuck in there. I've never seen a paper label cd. I usually just write on it with a marker.

If you can't play burned CD's how are you supposed to play MP3/WMA files?
