Build date vs In Service date
Just called Acura customer svc to find out the exact build date of our car. The rep mentioned that he did not have the build date, but did have the in service date. Does anyone know if these two dates are generally pretty close together?

Nope. The car could have been built 1/1/2004, so that would be the build date, but if it was sold 9/10/2004 (today) that would be the in service date.

The in service date is the date that the car is actually sold, the paperwork goes through, and the title is issued to the buyer. Probably some other criteria here but I can't think of any right now.
A demo is "in service" because it is being driven, but its actual in service date would be when the dealer sells it to someone and puts their name on the title.
