Brightest Fog Lights. Please help

Just to demonstrate, I don't think HIDs in 04-06 fogs are annoying anyone, normally I'm opposed to them but I had some lying around and tried it, and left it.
Obviously it looks a little funny cause my car is pointing up a hill (hate my driveway) but you can see they're not glaring everywhere, just enhancing the lows.

Please please don't get HID bulbs in your foglamps unless you plan on retrofitting projectors in them, or you enjoy blinding oncoming traffic with hotspots.
The brightest bulbs you can get for your fogs are Philips HIR2. They have a light output of 1875 lumens at 55w that's 875 more than 9006 bulbs. In fact the HIR2 bulb put out 175 more lumens than 65w 9005 bulbs. My fogs are so bright I can drive without my headlamps on no problem.
Here's a spec sheet comparing the HIR2 to the 9006 and the HIR1 to the 9005:

The only time I find people get annoyed by the fogs is on the Interstate, especially if you have any weight at all in the trunk. We drove to Florida a couple years back and had the trunk full of luggage. I had Semi's and all kinds of cars constantly flashing their brights at me if I had my fogs on. I finally hit a dark stretch of highway and could clearly see the beam from my fogs hitting the signs and rock along the other side. I turned them off after that until I emptied some of the weight out of the trunk. The beam is low and extremely wide. I like using my fogs on the highway at night since it lights up the sides of the road where the critters are usually hiding.
Re-based HID bulbs incorrectly reflect off the reflectors because the HID bulb is not positioned correctly as a halogen bulb is. Just say no to re-based HID bulbs

For the record I have never been hi-beamed or flashed for having HIDs in my fogs on any of my previous cars. I am definitely against having them in reflector headlight housings as they are generally larger which in turn provides a wider reflection beam. Headlight housings also sit significantly higher than fog lights do enhancing the already wide beam. Fog housings however are much lower to the ground and due to their much smaller reflector 'cup' produce a narrower beam output. Yes, you can see their reflection on the sides, but that's part of the point of fogs. You'll also notice how you can see light above your headlight projector cut off but it's much weaker than the headlight beam.

3k is the color you want to go with if you want the fogs to be yellow. You can always add an overlay if you want to intensify the yellow color. I have morimoto bulbs in my car and love them. Of course they cost a little bit more than eBay bulbs, but you get what you pay for. You can order these bulbs from theretrofitsource.com
And to clarify people putting HID's in their fogs should use 35w. If you want to put a 55w halogen bulb in the fog housing that's fine. Like I said earlier, it may not happen overnight, but by putting a 55w HID bulb in the fogs, it will make the housing miscolored and potentially melt it. Of course I can't find the thread showing a guy that melted his housing. GuitarPlayer16 has posted it in threads numerous times.

I agree with you on all you stated plus reflector housings also tend to "scatter" the light the brighter the bulb is. I dont know the stock wattage of the MY04-06 bulbs but the 07-08 bulbs are 35watts. our foglights have such a small area that heat builds up fast. I've pondered doing 55watt halogens 2500k nokyas but I know how to read and learn from others mistakes rather than me have a crack at it and muck up my lenses with no extra money in my pocket to replace the whole assembly ;-). Note that these wonderful members are telling you these things so you aren't put in a situation like they were in the past. Like my, grand mother used to say "a hard head makes for a soft behind"...lol.

I've had them now for just over a year, and I run them all the time as DRL. They're definitely not as white as HID, but not as yellow as halogen either. I like the look of them next to the HIDs. I ordered them of Amazon for just under $20 each.
