Brembos all around?

Maybe a silly question but I don't remember seeing it discussed. I have the 6MT with the Brembos and heavy brake dust in the front. One of the car nuts in my office asked about the rears, to which I had no answer. Are the Brembos just up front?

Yes, the Brembos are installed in just the front. I believe the rear brakes, while useful, have very little responsibility in terms of making your car stop at high speeds.

Most cars are front heavy so the nearly 80% of the work is from the front brakes. Most people don't upgrade rear brakes as there really is no true benefit outside of looks. UNLESS you track your car regurlarly.
Brembos are turning into the BOSE of brakes anyway.

Majority of your braking (almost 70%) is done by the front brakes, so a matching rear set is really not necessary. Remember that the TL is a front heavy car (60%F/ 40%R) and that causes a lot of heat on the front brakes. Also, the brake dust is caused by the type of brake pads that is used, EBC Greens I heard, makes little or no brake dust.

I am going to respectfully disagree here. Brembo makes some of the best brakes in the business! The only reason that Acura did not put them on the rear of the car is cost (Brembos are expensive)!!

Bose on the other hand makes crap audio products and plastic housings for cheap speakers!!

Brembos are more equivalent to high end home audio gear!!

The TL's rear brakes do end up working pretty hard when the car is pushed. Here is a pic of my rear wheel after a long 'twisty run'. The car had been detailed the night before, so it started spotless. To be honest, I was surprised to see this. The amount of dust on the fronts seemed normal. A contributing factor may be that I have the A-Spec suspension which does a good job of keeping weight on the rear. To Acura's credit, my 6MT brakes have not had any brake fade when pushed hard.

Thanks for all the replies. Yeah, I know about the brake distribution and all. I just wasn't sure of the set up in the rear.

Brembos make good brakes and components. We probably have the "lower end" of their product line but nevertheless a very good product. It's too bad you also see them on higher end Nissan Sentras and Mazdas. A few years ago, friend of mine ordered his 911 Carrera 4 with the Brembo option and it was $12,000 extra.

Bose is not a bad company. They used to manufacture high-end speakers and for a time was well known for their design and power handling. A few years ago they delved in the audio component business that included mobile audio and actually cheapened out some of their better products after that. They use proprietary technology that may sound phenomenal to the ordinary listener but not to audio enthusiasts.

actually you'll see brembo components on alot of cars not just sentras and mazdas. they supply rotors, calipers and alot of other brake components to car manufacturers as oem parts. they might not be the big brake kit performance products but nonetheless brembo products.

Other than the TL, name another car that only has Brembos on the front wheels.
