bought a TL

after looking at all options, i have decided to purchase a japanese car for the second time in my life. i tried a G35 6MT few years ago and only last 6 months.

my wife always had japanese car and was very happy with her TSX, so i though a TL may be a consideration.

anyway, purchased a 06 antrhacite TL with nav and quartz interior. it has lots of good options that are not available in my audi and porsche, as well as many BMWs i have owned before. so far it's been a joy (1 day later) and hopefully i wil llike it.

You will probably get sick of the car, and its rattles real soon. it seems like you will be using this car as a beater, but nothing beats german engineering. aside from voice activated great naviagtion and slick interior, i'd take my BMW back without hesitation, except its reliability issues that is.

Congrats on the new purchase.

If you value reliability you've made a wise decision.

thanks. i hear you very well. my wife previously had a honda accord since college and finally died after i forced it into the grave. she would not buy anything else and ended up with a TSX in 04. on the other hand, since college, i have had 2 BMW M3, x5, G35, audi, and now 2 Porsche. i am still always looking around and finding something new. if you i would have just focused on having a reliable car and just drive, i would have save lots of money and still have a reliable car.

anyway, i will be thinking about selling the S4. it is a great car and handles like no other. the V8 is also a monster while the interior is very nice. however, the gas mileage and the lack of any cool electronic options is startin gto get to me.

hey....if that's all she wants, it leaves him w/ more $$ in his pockets haha.

Btw, how do you like the 997. I'm trying to convince my dad to get it over the Lotus Exige.

i have been married for 2 years and the wife has never shown any interest in cars. when we shopped for her car 2 years ago, i was all over the place with mercedes E class, BMW 530, and Audi A6. she never liked any of them and eventually told me she wanted japanese. i had never owned a japanese at that time. but she told me what she wanted and was not going to be happy unless she gets the TSX. bottomline, who am i to complain when she just wants a reliable car with good functions. i have continue to chase after my car enthusiasm while she couldn't tell the differencee between my 997 and 996!!

as for the 997s, it is an awesome car. much more refined than the 996. i had a C4S and drove a TT for almost a year, they are much more raw and great cars, but hte 997S is really a much better car in my opinion.

now a lotus is another story. is he is into the track, it is the best car. on the other hand, lotus on the street is not likely to be pleasant if driven often.

Originally I had suggested a 996, but after i saw/read reviews on the 997, i told him to hold up on the 996. Then he and i went and test drove the Exige and he really liked it. However, i just can't picture him driving around because it's such a tiny car, and he's creeping up on 54. (Don't know how much longer he can climb in and out of tiny spaces like that, plus he doesn't track cars) I told him he had to go test drive the 997 and the Cayman to see how he liked them. He's waiting for me to go back to Vegas to visit so that we can go together (good father/son bonding hahah). Guess i won't know until i go back and test drive it.

lol, i know! It was funny, not to laugh at one's misery, because the salesman really wanted to make the sale, so he said, "it's actually a lot easier to get in when the top is off. You just take it off and jump right in." and as he's jumpin in, he hits his knee on the steering wheel and starts grimacing in pain.
