Bleeding brakes

How is it done? Is it necessary after putting new rotors and brake pads? Keep in mind I'm a noobie

Flush hould be done every 36months as per the owner's manual. Not necessary for rotor/pad change. Do a search, there are several threads complete with service manual scans.

On TL-S or 6MT, be sure you bleed both sides of the front calipers (and in the proper order: outside, then inside IIRC). Sorry, too tired to do the search for you....

No, not in isolation. You do need to keep your fluid fresh though. If your brake fluid is brownish, then it needs flushed.

Read the DIY... but basically, you can push the piston back into the caliper back in without opening the brake lines up. It will raise the fluid level in the master cylinder reservoir.

You might be thinking of what a shop will/might charge you. They will usually charge you to bleed the brakes for the extra revenue - it is an easy upsell.
