I don't think I saw a response to this post.
Will the PIAA refills fit onto our OEM wipers? Can we just buy the refills or do we need to buy the whole assembly?
Also, for those who bought the whole assembly, did it install easily? Do we need to use one of the adapters that comes with the kit?

I do not know the answer to your first question. However, it is easy to install PIAA on our TLs. Those wipers come with a number of different adaptors, including ones for TLs. It is easy to install.

Excellent! Thanks! I took measurements and they seem to fit the requirements on the website, but it is good to know that somebody actually did it and it worked.

Okay here is some very good news.
I ordered a set of the PIAA after reading this thread. But while waiting
for them to come in, I found a set at Wal Mart, that is silicone and only $6.88 for the whole assembly or 2 inserts for $6.88.
I waited for the PIAA to come in, and I A/B compared them, it was even raining out. The WalMart ones actually seemed to work the same if not a tiny bit better. In as much as they seemed to slide a little smoother across the glass if that makes any sense.
The silicone makes a huge difference, and I will never buy the rubber compound wipers ever again..
I forgot the name of the brand at WalMart, but I will post back here if anyone is interested.

Can you post pics of the carbons? a closeup of the blades and then an overall look of the car?
Where did you buy them?

As far as blades go, I use Silblades. I've had them on for about 15 months and they have only recently started to streak, probably because of our terrible winter weather. This is, aso opposed to regular wiper blades, which I've seen go bad in as short a time as three months around here. Silblades also come in various colors, including carbon fiber (which I had on my 2G TL).

I'll have to try these. My wipers are only 4 months old and been in warm weather the whole time.
I like RainX and saw from the other post as well as thought they would work well.
NeuronBob,
Who did your Xpel in Cleveland? I may be going back to Cleveland to see the folks. However, I have several chips that would have to be fixed first. Any recommendations on a body shop in Cleveland?
Allright - end of hijack

OK, based on Techguy's reply I ordered 2 replacement blades from PepBoys.
PIAA WIPER BLADE REFILL 26"
Style: 94065 US $8.61 1 US $8.61
PIAA WIPER BLADE REFILL 19"
Style: 94048 US $6.46 1 US $6.46
Subtotal: US $15.07
Got my order delivered in 3 days (UPS free shipping). And what is in the package??... the whole wiper blade assembly for each size! Maybe they were out of refills, so they just sent me the whole thing.
Anyway, like everyone else posted, they were very easy to install. Now I just need some rain to see if they work. How sad is that... I'm hoping for rain.

I have a set of Silblades on my CL and I love them. SOOOO much quieter than the stock blades, and they work wonders in the winter. I also rain-x the windshield, so unless its really raining I dont even have to have the wipers on.
Also I dont know about the PIAA's, but Silblades have a 5 year warranty, so you wont buy blades for 5 years, and most people dont even own the car that long.

I just recently got new OEM refills. Crazy stuff...was just two rubber inserts....didnt even come with the steel backer strips. I was a bit confused as I have replaced thousands of sets of wipers as a kid in my wiper blade selling career (lol) - but never seen something like this. BUT...after a little figuring out...they come right apart. Then you pull two steel backer strips off the old ones and put em on the new ones and slide it right back into place. Total cost...$18. Got em at my dealer.

for those of you who ordered the piaa silicone refills from pepboys for $15...does that come with the "windshield preparation pack" that comes with it when you buy the whole wiper blade, as shown in the image from the tirerack site?

Old thread, but I'll add my vote for Silblades. They are guaranteed 5 years, but the pair on our Grand Cherokee is 7 years old and still going strong. I actually removed them from an older GC when it was sold, and put them on the newer Jeep.

I called PIAA customer service and they said the refills don't come with the windshield prep pack b/c they assume you bought the whole blade originally and already treated the windshield. I just told them that I was switching them to a new car and they said they would ship me another prep pack. Yay for good customer service!

Full of water...
All this talk about clean windows got me excited, so i just placed my order for a pair of black PIAA Super Sporzas. Oooo, the excitment. My stock blades are only 3 months old but they suck so time for new.

I just orderd the same. I recently replaced the drivers side with OEM blades. Couldn't find anything better locally. Well the other day it was raining and they were streaking like crazy. I eventually got not to streak but, it annoyed me enough to order these. Hope they work better.
