congrats on your TL and welcome. There are many good mods for the Tl, here they are:

Progress Rear Sway bar - reduced leaning of body during turns- 200 dollars
UR Underdrive pulley - helps motor rev faster and reduces weight - 200 dollars
AEM cold air intake - helps motor breathe easier - 235 dollars
Weight reduction - look at inaccurate's thread, its almost free.
Also good tires, the stock ones are pretty crappy. You can't go if your tires suck.

New to the TL but the answer is the same for any car on the road - tires. Nothing else improves acceleration, braking, and handling with one mod except for weight reduction, although rarely to the extent tires do.

Hope you're loving your TL. I'm loving mine.

I bought the A-spec model, and it has mastercraft avenger tires on it. Handles really well.

- a CAI/TBS combo will make it sound great and add a small boost in power
- a RSB will make it handle great
- a set of Supercomputer/Excelerate pedals make the interior pop
- and maybe an interior/exterior LED swap, makes the car look like $$

This list has been done toooo many times.

If you are asking what is the ONE best in terms of value or best bang for the buck I'd have to say the AEM intake is a must do!

Otherwise search because we have plenty of lists about this!
